Kakashi and the Executioner's Blade
How does it stick on his back?
I don't recall seeing any sheath or anything that holds it.

Does walking on water and walls even use chakra? I thought it was just them concentrating it in their feet to make themselves near weightless, meaning that nothing left and nothing was wasted. If it is, then having the same thing work with the makeshift sheathe may work.

Sasuke manipulated a kunai with his foot, with his chakra in the original, in the forest of death, so chakra would be what does it, since well Kakashi has lightning chakra so magnetism. A good ninja with advanced chakra control can easily do it and Kakashi has had years of experience with that. Don't forget that other ninja once that had iron fillings stick to him all the time, he had to keep brushing them off so he wouldn't become a giant magnet, so strategy was to stop him from brushing them off and that's what happened he got buried in all the iron fillings in that canyon with them in it.
You mustn't forget the other ninja that use things of that equivalent like that Kazekage of the sand that Sasori turned into a puppet, he was able to control iron, then there's Gaara putting minerals in his sand anyway, which gold was at one point much later I have heard.
