No not really, all I thought was it's a dog but, because of the way it was taken, the photo, I had to stare longer at it's chin because my eyes were playing an illusion on me that there was a saliva bubble or something there. O_o When there wasn't, lol.
Might of just been tired eyes on my part but still, it was weird. Just because of the shape of the chin and it's colouring gave me that illusion, heh.

The furries come to my city for a national convention...Hotels refuse a few of them because they do strange things (I've heard stories of people filling bath tubs with cat liter and well..ya you know what goes on from there). While there is a strange sexual stigma to this, I think its more about people trying to actually BE the animal than just the stigma attached.

I'm not a furry but I respect the fandom. Furries are into stuff sorta like that. I think its a bit biased to choose a pic of a dog though, since its more of about humanized animals. I found a pic of what I directly stole from wikipedia of a furry character.

While there are certainly sub-divisions within the fandom, I take issue with the above generalisation. For example, I myself am technically a furry, but do not find myself attracted to the creature depicted in that image at all. Having said that, I do suspect (and at the very least hope) that your post was intended purely as a joke.

However, I unfortunately did not find it amusing, and felt obliged to post the above anyway.

I haven't invested in the fandom enough to feel offended when it is insulted, especially if only as a joke. More to the point, however, my post was directed entirely at the OP; you've no need to worry.

No, this was never directed as a complete joke, in fact, I wanted to just reinstate a bit of security between myself, and some of you people.
In my mind, certain variations of furries can be disgusting, and some can be perfectly harmless.
But when I posted the picture, it would be less offending to say, that the HOTH furries would thing a freakishly ugly bulldog would be unendingly attractive

And it didn't cross your mind once that posting a potentialy inflammatory topic, and risking the gathering and collective irritation of furries is entirely counter-productive to the aim of seeking security from them? All this topic will do is draw in those you would prefer to avoid, and given that you outright admitted that your intent was at least in part to offend some people, the entire endeavour seems even more foolish and unecessary.

Your conduct is simply baffling. It's akin to being in a warzone and trying to avoid being spotted by your enemy by firing missiles at them. It's counter-productive and ultimatey makes little sense.

I can speak quite a bit about furries. I worked with a group called the Dorsai Irregulars who specialize in convention security. Thus I worked anthrocon security a couple of times. Having been involved in security for numerous conventions I have a basis of comparrision and did quite a bit of research on this.

Furries are, in the main, the nicest goddamn people you will ever meet and they are not attracted to animals like that. Most of them enjoy anthropromorphized creatures and suits and such, but as an escape from reality and a return to childhood simplicity. The fandoms culture is one of respect, acceptance, and non-judgement. Heck I remember when in 2009, 2010 or 2011, 4chan showed up to protest the con, as 4chan frikkin hates furries, and protested, but it rained. The furries brought them umbrellas and freshly baked cookies. The next year 4chan showed up demanding an offering of cookies. They were obliged and some of them came over to hang out. Nothing ever got out of hand.

Generally when I work conventions there is an 80/20 rule. This is to say that 80% of the congoers never give us trouble and we spend most of the time dealing with the other 20%.

At anthrocon it was more like 93/7. But dear god the lowest 7% at that con were the worst, most screwed up humans I have ever encountered. Bestiality, and some of the worst of humanity crossed through those doors. Ugh.

Because of the acceptance and nonjudgemental culture, the worst people find solace and acceptance in the furry community, and those people are the ones everyone hears about. They ruin the image of the whole group as a VERY vocal minority.

The nicest people I have ever met, I met at anthrocon. I hope this little story helps some of you to understand a bit and have a more accurate bias. The whole furry thing isn't for me, but the community has touched me deeply (insert inappropriate joke here) and I have nothing but respect for it.
