Spoiler Occam's Razor

It seems to me that the members of the Naruto community manage to disappoint themselves with their predictions by not following this basic principle when reading Kishi's work. While it's true you can't use occam's razor to make exact predictions of histories for chracter's (e.g. Itachi and Kabuto) I think when finding solutions for the problems at hand this should be the tool used most often in threads. It is Kishi's modus operandi after all.

So I suggest than for the remainder of the series if anyone has a simple solution to a problem that they think fits Kishi's style they place it here. For example,

Problem: Naruto can't mold wind chakra and use shape manipulation for FRS

Solution: It took 1 clone for a normal Rasengan, so it will take 2 for an FRS


Problem: Rinnegan was predecessor to sharingan, but how did it devolve to that level?

Solution: Well we can see that the sharingan evolves from three tomoe to mangekyo so the next logical step is that it evolves from mangekyo to rinnegan

So with that being said anyone got some ideas on the three major plot arcs going on at the moment that follow this pattern? Either with Obito's flashback, where Sasuke is going, or what the five Kages or going to do? The floor is yours.

I agree with you about Occam's Razor, but a lot of us spend a lot of time here, with nothing better to do than come up with crazy theories, which is why it gets like that. Besides the Chapter Discussion, that's what pretty much every thread in the TB is about. I wouldn't get disappointed if an outlandish theory I came up with didn't turn out to be true, but I can see how some people would be-it was their theory, of course they'd like it.

Anyway, my predictions for the three things you asked about are:

Where's Sasuke going: He's going to Konoha (he knows that place very well, having grown up there), who he's meeting with is more difficult to say. The two remaining elders would make sense, because they're the only ones left alive who know about the Uchiha Massacre and would allow Sasuke to make his own informed decision about his revenge. The problem with this is the chapter where Sasuke gets the scroll was titled "The Third Power" and they obviously couldn't impact the war. Alternatively, it could be Madara and Obito he wants to meet, but they aren't at "a place he knows well". If there's going to be another arc after the war I'm betting he goes to Konoha, if not he'll go to Naruto's battlefield.

Obito's Flashback: Well it's getting close to being finished. Most of the loose ends have been tied up (How he was so tall/voice wasn't recognized when fighting Minato, reasoning for going evil, etc.) I hope there is a bit more of an explanation for why he does the things he does later-just because Rin died would be pretty pathetic, and a terrible reason to try to destroy the Leaf Village and kill his sensei's newborn child. It would be a complete reversal in personality, but then again he also goes from a crappy Chunin with seemingly low intelligence to a powerful evil mastermind pretty much overnight. I think he'll find out that Konoha was somehow involved in Rin's death in the upcoming chapters.

What are the 5 Kage going to do: Tsunade's going to heal the other Kage and probably die in the process. They are too far away/ beat up to really help out in the fight against Madara/Obito, so I don't think we'll see anything from them other than the fact that most of them survived .

I agree with almost everything you said. I don't really see the 5 Kage just falling into the background, although it is possible, it doesn't seem like Kishi will let that happen. As for Tsunade dying yeah that seems like a coin toss to me, on one hand she means so much to Naruto and it didn't seem like Katsuyu had a problem putting her back together (like it would be enough of a strain for her to die), but on the other hand all the men she loves besides Naruto have moved on.

@Maruko I have no idea how you got that out of my post. If you'd like to quote sentences from the OP that support your synopsis I'd gladly read them and point out to you how you misinterpreted them.

You clearly haven't been reading the same manga. Kishi will use the most convoluted of explanations, particularly if about the plot. Not only that he will change his mind and re-explain things over and over again. See Kyubi sealed into Naruto, then half, then half WITH Minato AND Kushina). The there is Itachi Twist fowl-up.

Obito's flashback is easy. More retcon. Most likely in the Mist direction, the Nine Tails attack from a different perspective but really we know all this. But we might get the Danzo-Tobi meetng as we do know that happened at some point.

Sauske is going to see Madara or Tobi whom he thinks is Madara. Stands to reason.

Kages, nothing, they are done. They will probably all live, but their story is over. The series is nearing the end.
