TV: Captain Power And The Soliders Of The Future

Anyone here remembers it? Captain Power And The Soldiers Of The Future is an 1987-1988 TV series that only ran for one season

Recently the complete series was released on DVD, and the series will get a reboot this year

The show was gunning to be a show that could be enjoyed by both adults and children, but it was never meant to be a children's show, yet the media labeled it as such, and received heavy criticism due to the violence (which by today's standards is quite tame, but then was quite heavy) and the adult themes sometimes used in the show

Yet, it ranks as a VERY underrated show

That series came out before i was born, and i've never seen it before.

I'm not sure about this being intended as an adult show, considering their action figure mech interacted with actual segments of the show but who knows.

There were romantic kisses, sexual innuendo, and mild profanity were part of the story & dialogue of the show, storyline wise it wasn't a kids show

but, with such a name (more akin to an 80's cartoon) and with the whole Power suits thing, Mattel saw a great chance to market toys with it gave the show that label

I guess they were trying to do a mildly edgy show so the whole family could watch it, but it was ahead of its time, IMO

Anyone that likes Power Rangers, and/or liked VR Troopers should like this show, but be warned: it has some 80's cheeseness

It seems to be a nice classic series and i must give a watch if it available online. Sorry but I have no plans to buy the DVD yet.
