Preta Path absorbs stuff and he's got the Rinnegan, so was it realy the fan that absorbed the Mini-Bijuu Bomb or was it the Rinnegan? If the fan is just an extension of his power, then it'd just be his Rinnegan that was the base of that, but he also just used the fan with a weapon jutsu.
But it's still possible that the fan has some ability. I mean, Kinkaku and Ginkaku brought in weapons with special properties as well. It's possible.

the Fan is obviously an ancient uchiha tool probably passed down from the rikudo or maybe the first uchiha the elder brother but just like kinkaku and ginkaku's tools its very ancient and obviously it hold's a certain status for orbito to recover it and for the fan to not recognize him anymore in madara's presence similiar to how samahada defied kisame
