Custom Avatars (for some) minature American flags (for others)

It wouldn't hurt that much, eh?

I mean, the avatars provided by the site aren't bad, but if you would allow custom avatars for everyone, it would be better.

I know there were some certain places where you could sign-up and get a custom avatar, but that's not really the point, if you could just enable the Custom Avatar option for everyone, it would be better.

You could make requirements such as :

• x number of posts +
• positive rep.
• average of x posts per day

The problem is, a lot of members, who don't pay attention to rules, would use Viz-owned material as their avatars, and it would be very hard to moderate.

Fair enough, but you could put some attention / warning on the custom avatar part and if they violate that, ban them or ban their permission to put an avatar.

But as I said, if you put 500 posts or more, by that time people would know the rules and respect them.

They're already loosening the restraints by allowing war system participants to have them. I think it's the first step to allowing custom avatars,but there's a lot that can happen to make them go away for good.

@megabbaut : there are some people who love the avatars Viz provides, some people love them but they think custom avatars would be better, some people don't like the avatars by Viz.

^This. Custom Avatars for WS Participants is sort of a trial run to see how things go.

Not our fault you can't stop getting infractions.

Anyway, as far as the OP goes, it would be a lot tougher to allow everyone a CA, but perhaps if we don't run into issues with the WC it may be considered.

But yeah, custom avatars for everyone is possible in the future, but it's likeliness is based on how well the WS participants handle their custom avatars. Nothing I could really say hasn't already been said.

Like I've said before, allowing them in the WS was intended to hammer out the approval and management mechanisms to make them possible for everyone. That was the only point in allowing it there, though it's nice that it spurred interest for that too.

So yep, if they manage well enough, we're going to do it.

F.A.I.L infracts the posts/profiles, it gets redirected to the Infractions section, and then someone removes it.

Same way a mod would remove an image from a post.

The number of posts per day should have nothing to do with anything. I only have about 3.5 posts per day according to my profile, yet I'm incredibly active in participating and helping around the forum. The posts per day don't really represent anything because someone could've just taken a break from the forum or started using it long after they registered.

Couldn't they run the picture they intend to use for the avatar for some kind of approval by someone? Like with the siggy pictures? Just a thought. That way no Viz owned material would slip by.
