In bleach there is this boy named ichigo kurosaki. He has been able to see ghost for as long as he can remember. One day,a girl named rukia kuchiki came in his room waiting for a monster called a hollow to come. A hollow is a monster who devours souls and cannot be seen by people who have no spirtual pressure(I guess you can say that this is like chakra from naruto.) Ichigo is able to see it because he has spirtual pressure witch hollows can sense. soul reapers can also do this. He can also see rukia who is a soul reaper.(soul reapers and hollows are like ghost.)The hollow appears at ichigo's house and fights rukia but is injured during the fight because ichigo gets in the way. Rukia then trys to give ichigo some of her power but he takes it all so he kills the hollow like a fly.

Hollow (虚 (ホロウ), horō) are a race of creatures which are born from human souls who, for various reasons, do not cross over to soul society after their death and stay in the human world for too long. They are corrupt spirits with supernatural powers that devour the souls of both living and deceased Humans. Hollows settle in hueco mondo but can cross over to the Human World and Soul Society.
It is a soul reaper's job to preform a konso on dead human souls so they can pass over the the soul society and live peacefully.
There are 5 tyeps of hollows and are ranked lowest from top to bottom

Adjuchas
Espada
Vasto lordes

It is generally a tool used for battle. Its unreleased form is a katana but after it is released it pretty much can be whatever. Omaeda's is a big spikey ball.

soi fon's is a claw that if she hit's you in one place with it,a mark will appear there and if she hits you there again,you die.

If you are a espada,then you don't have a bankai.
soul reapers have bankai and espadas have releases.
Also like taka-hebi said,You need to learn kido.

Wait Kido is only for shinigami(soul reapers).
Learn at the espada abilities like hierro(Iron skin) AND Cero,Bala sonido their are different types of ceros too some can be done be absorbing others ceros.

That sword has is called a zanpakuto and has it's own uniqe name. When the owner of the sword says the name for the first time,the sword transfroms into it's shikai and gains a power. Ichigo's power it to swing his sword making a energy blast with lots of destructive power Bankai Spoiler: Bankai is the next stage of a soul reaper's sword. You have to form a strong bond with your zanpakuto in order to learn it. It takes a normal soul reaper 10 years to learn and master it. It took ichigo and his teacher kisuke urahara 3 days. for ichigo's bankai, he can shoot out a bigger blast of energy and also becomes faster. To see his bankai,watch episode 55-61 Captains Spoiler: Before rukia went to kill the hollow that was aiming for ichigo,She was in the home of the soul reapers,the soul society.(witch is kinda like the leaf village)The soul society has 5 ranks No seat(genin) 1-12 seat(chunin) lutenent(special jonin) 1-13 captain(Jonin) head captain(hokage) Each squad has 4 ranks excluding the head captain. The captains are also ranked from 1 to 13. The only way to become a captain is to learn your bankai. But a soul reaper named zaraki kenpachi has no bankai and is still a captain. azien and the espadas Spoiler: Azein is like orochimaru. He took the soyoku(I think that is what it is called but in any case,he took a scroll)With this object,he made espadas witch are hollows that resemble soul reapers and are on captain level but they are ranked 1 -10. When hollows draw their zanpakuto,they use their bankai but is not called a bankai. It is called a release. Any espada that is ranked 4 or lower are called vasto lordes.
