Not really. A story can end happily or it can end sad. When they ended up alive in Soa, it sort of sucked the life out of the ending for the sake of continuing a story which could have easily concluded.

Stories geared toward older audiences are rarely happy anymore. I'd invite Soa to end happily without taking away the impact of the deceased.
