In English and Scottish Folklore, some artists depict elves as being small and mischievous. They aren't known for that though. Pixies and fairies are the small races.

True, fairies are primarily thought of as being small though. Definitely much more often than elves. Lord of the Rings has real elves.

My number 1 is Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun.

My other ones that I feel are around SAO's level are Magi, Nazo no Kanojo X, Sankarea and Accel World. Looking at this list though, Accel World is the only one I might actually make it tie with. Magi's still on episode 4, so I can't really tell completely for that one yet.

The first half of SAO is so high on my list of favorites that I haven't liked an anime this much in a long time. The ALfheim part I'm a little iffy on.

Soa would have been number 1 in my books if it ended with kirito and sauna dying. Bending the game rules is one thing, not having your brain fried is another.
