Spoiler Uchiha Bros. vs Kabuto, Why it worked, And how smart Itachi really is!!!

The purpose of this is to give an understanding, well my own, of the Uchiha Bros vs Kabuto fight. Itachi and Kishi deserve far more credit for their intelligence than just Izanami.

So I have broken down the strategy of Itachi as he passes through this fight, to show his superiority to Kabuto in tactical intelligence and because others have been only talking about understanding Izanami and perhaps that Itachi made too many "mistakes" in this fight.

I feel that this fight went over a lot of people's heads.


577- Itachi is informed Edo stays even if Kabuto dies.
Itachi thinks the Edo situation is much worse than expected. Begins strategizing.

578- nothing important, just reiterating that Kabuto must be stopped, not killed.

579- Itachi finds out that normal genjutsu will be blocked by Kabuto’s hood.
His strategy is now susanoo, but the snakes escape his grasp.

The first important part is Sasuke throwing his sword. This shows Itachi that Sasuske is willing to throw his sword as a strategy.

Itachi also finds out about Kabuto’s sage jutsu thereby establishing Kabuto as an even bigger threat in battle than just genjutsu blocking.

Kabuto demonstrates his “perception” in dodging Susanoo’s arrow. And turns on Sage mode.

580.- Kabuto can use the snakes cornea to block light (and therefore a second way to block eye contact for genjutsu)

page 7 Itachi says “I know what’s exactly on your mind. I only have to prepare for it.”
Kabuto admits “you can easily read people and use this in the fight.”

THAT WAS AN IMPORTANT FORSHADOW /\/\/\ This speaks to predicting strategy and movement. This can cover teammates too. And does for Susake’s sword throwing. This is a skill needed to manipulate an opponent’s moves into being herded into Izanami.

Itachi watches Kabuto jump to the ceiling, a reaction to dodging Sasuke’s shuriken.

Kabuto states that “Though you two are teamed up, you’re actually unprepared. You can never compete with my perceptual ability.
THAT WAS IMPORTANT, for the ego clash of who perceives better and leads into the rebuttle of Kabuto’s opinion…..FLASHBACK!!!! Sasuke distracts the boar and Itachi sails into the air.

THIS IS IMPORTANT because Itachi needs to CONTROL SASUKE’S movements in order to predict how Kabuto will react to both of them. He can’t tell Susake what he’s doing, because he can’t risk Kabuto hearing his plan. That is why He told Susake that particular plan. TO LEAD KABUTO into countering his air strike by once again, jumping to the ceiling.

Next page Sasuke tells Itachi that Kabuto wants to grab his sword/the fired arrow from susanoo. He is giving away/predicting a part of kabuto’s tactics. THIS IS IMPORTANT FOR DETERMINING HOW KABUTO WILL REACT IF THIS HAPPENS AGAIN!!! HE WILL GO FOR THE SWORD! THIS ALLOWS ITACHI TO PLAN FOR THE GRABBING OF THE SWORD along with jumping to the ceiling. TWO circumstances to herd Kabuto into reality/Izanami sync position. Thereby locking Kabuto into Izanami.

ITACHI makes SURE this is the reaction, by jumping at Kabuto, making the grab of the sword a natural and correct countermeasure, not just a tendency towards an available sword.

Kabuto then stabs Itachi and we see Itachi’s sharingan. This isn’t to show that it is NOW working, it’s to show a change in Itachi’s strategic status in using his sharingan (to record). The recording that becomes a loop starts with Itachi jumping at Kabuto, or on the ground looking at him. This timing makes the most sense. For art, we see it when they are close together and makes more aesthetic sense for a close up view on his eye.

Then we have, crows, stolen sword, sliced horn falls to the ground.

581- Kabuto states to Itachi that his recovery speed makes wounding useless,, and that he blocked his eyesight, (the cornea, he only mentioned it blocks light earlier) rendering genjutsu useless. Pretty much helping Itachi decide that the only good course of action at his disposal is in fact, Izanami,, “power able to affect the enemy regardless of the 5 senses. He says it’s prepared (ch. 580- the recording of Kabuto on the ceiling and it's still recording, since what is next repeats later).

Kabuto then charges., and Itachi blocks with a sword (yells IZANAMI!!, but was talking to Sasuke, that's all) and Kabuto is pushed back. THIS SHOWS A SECOND CHARGE ATTACK BY KABUTO, Itachi is looking for attack patterns. Itachi tells Sasuke to stay close.

582- Kabuto progresses his attack with hermit jutsu, injuring Itachi. Itachi must bring Kabuto back to the situation of standing on the ceiling and grabbing the sword as he charges kabuto.

And Kabuto doesn’t want to hurt Itachi too much. So he says. He wants Itachi to be his guinea pig. And Kabuto brings out a tagged kunai. So now Itachi and Kabuto are both holding back.

Then Kabuto charges again! How predictable! And Sasuke buys Itachi time to heal back together from the hermit jutsu, by using a ring of amaterasu.

Then Itachi talks trash to Kabuto about how he’ll lose because he doesn’t have an identity, (maybe to piss him off into charging, which will close the distance to help sync the recording!!!! OR a subtle way to tell Kabuto to be consistent in manner, and manner/who he is could include HINT, HINT!!! being consistent in attack pattern!!!! IT'S A TRICK!!!). This causes kabuto to drift into a flashback. Which continues through….

583- flashback for Kabuto and Oro.

585.- Kabuto snaps out of it, Susake askes if Izanami is ready, and Itachi says he’ll begin it soon. He can’t yet because he needs to get closer and lure Kabuto to the ceiling and with the sword Sasuke now holds. He can start it, but it needs to sync (trap then sprung/Itachi stabbed on ceiling) soon after. That’s why he says he needs more time. He already said it’s (the recording) prepared. He just needs to sync the genjutsu with reality.

Now for a little while Kabuto stays at medium-long range.
Then Kabuto tries his next paralyzing jutsu, the bone flute jutsu. (another strategic attempt/pattern…Identity???) Itachi talks more trash about Kabuto deceiving himself . Then Oro charges from his stomach. And is blocked by susanoo.

And then Itachi activates Izanami. BUT Izanami is a trap that is created but not yet sprung. He did it then because he predicted kabuto was about to charge!!!! And that he could soon get Kabuto to the ceiling

Kabuto then comes out of Oro’s mouth, cutting Itachi in half.

THIS IS WHAT ITACHI WANTED! Kabuto at close range so Izanami can sync with reality. He needs Sasuke’s help, that’s why he told Sasuke to stay close.

586-

He calls to Sasuke who he knows is willing to throw his sword and is already holding his sword. Sasuke throws it! LIKE BEFORE. Itachi knew he would because he is so good at reading people during combat.

AND KABUTO takes the bait. He grabs the sword with his snake. Susanoo misses Kabuto (a ground attack similar to the arrow ground attack earlier) and Kabuto uses the same counter by jumping to the ceiling again, with the sword. Sasuke keeps Kabuto on the ceiling with Katon Gouka, which buys time for Itachi to assemble back together.

Itachi jumps to the ceiling, and is stabbed again. THE TRAP IS SPRUNG!!! The loop closed and Kishi makes it obvious for us by showing Itachi’s eye normal one moment then sealed the next (so we see the change then and don’t get confused for when the eye changed).

Kabuto knows the occurrence happened before, lands from the ceiling and is now talking trash on how predictable ITACHI IS!!!!! When it is was KABUTO who was predictable!!!!!! That’s why Itachi says your destiny is already in my hands.

From here on out the recording of events plays, but both can speak freely. And Itachi actually controls how Kabuto counters him, leading to the next counter in the loop, even if not exact.

Kabuto charges again, this time tearing off an arm, the sword still in the hand. Then they are on the ceiling, stab, crows, couter slice, horn,…

SO essentially, Itachi herded kabuto into doing what he wanted. And in intelligence, Kabuto got OWNED.

BTW, Itachi calls Izanami the technique that decides destiny. I don’t believe this means the only way for Kabuto to escape is if he performs the single destiny that Itachi will allow him --- which would be releasing the ETs. I think the loop itself decides your destiny in that you always follow along the same path and destiny just means you have no control over it. He is stuck until whenever Itachi releases him. Likely after Itachi controls Kabuto like he said he would. With Tsukuyomi

And I mean AFTER they showed up and Kabuto mentioned ETs live even if he doesn't, and Sage jutsu. Itachi quickly changed his mind. He just wanted Sasuke to follow him/not get in the way of his tactics/Izanami.

There's plenty there to support my statement.
The flashback with the boar as their attack pattern.
Saying he'll talk to Sasuke about the past after they take care of Kabuto
Calling for Sasuke when he was cut in half.
When Kabuto mentioned the Dragon Jutsu and where he trained, Itachi pretty much knew" uh oh It'll take my best, and a personal sacrifice to beat you."

I think you forgot that Itachi saved Sasuke first. You forget that dragon vibration jutsu that collapsed Sasuke's Susanoo?

And it depends technically on both of them skill wise. But the thread specifies Itachi's intelligence vs kabuto, not skill vs skill.

Thanks. I know it's a long read for everyone, a wall is right, but as we know from the "chapter 586 discussion" thread, there was too much confusion as to what chapters people were referring to. And that was just to figure out Izanami. I felt it best to cover the entire fight in order.

And while I wanted everyone to get a better (though not necessarily perfect or totally right) idea of Izanami, I really wanted to show how much actual strategy was planned by Kishi and written into the fight.

Did any of you notice how Itachi and sasuke never attacked? Despite needing to stop Edo? Makes sense though. Stay in the same spot and wait for your opponent to repeat one of his favorite attacks. That's the best strategy for implementing Izanami, not chasing Kabuto around the cavern while you trade attack, defense, and positioning. But most people never got to the strategy aspect.

Kishi put a lot of hard work into this fight. It was more planned out than anything else of his I can think of.

I wonder if Sasuke wil fudge things up with this whole Izanami thing Itachi has going...
-Itachi tries to force Kabuto to undo Edo Tensei
-Sasuke realizes Itachi would disappear and not have his talk with him like he promised
-Sasuke prevents Itachi from making Kabuto undoing ET by magically counteracting Izanami with his EMS... *sigh*

If something like this happens I'll be pissed.
