ok heres my take. people say what he looks like right well in recent manga itachi and shisui are almost the same height but tobi towers over itachi. also both shisui and obito have the same hair due.lol but tobi's hair back then is bad ass. time changes to make yourself look different he probally cut his hair. remember this is the way itachi saw him. for the people that still think its obito are wrong and i belive it only because obito didnt have a grudge against the uchiha or the leaf and if he was trained by the great madara why would he hold a grudge against the uchiha.now i know kishi did what im about to say just to get people thinking this one fact is both shisui and obito are missing right eyes., but if you notice tobi only shows his right eye he was missing the left that should disclame it. i like to give both sides of an argument so on the same token heres how i will defend that it could be either of the two neither obito or shisui had ms and when we see tobi he doesnt as well. i worte way back that in my eyes tobi might be madaras father or sages son but after reading that tobi had a grudge it couldnt be true because madara's father or the sages son couldnt of had a grudge against the leaf because it hadnt been formed yet, but on the flip side if tobi has been alive for this long watching then he would know that the leaf are his senju enemys and just may have not liked that the uchiha name allied themselves with the senju so still possiable. oh yea didnt tobi's hair kinda look like madara's.lol random insert. i like when i read that it might have been someone from another village watching and gaining info you dont need be an uchiha to have a sharingan we know this whats to say that tobi is actually a senju who knows the uchiha eyes are strong weapons and he ads them to his arsenal no uchiha had a space time jutsu but a senju the second hokage. you need senju blood and uchiha eyes to relese izanagi. that way he could have both.
so lets doo this like a school history class

tobi= obito not possiable he was dead during the nine tails attack and tobi was around before the coup
tobi=shisui not possiable shusui wasnt dead yet during the coup
tobi helped during the coup and on top of it had the height of someone already in his adult years.
so what we know for a fact is ...............................
tobi=unkown and i'd rather wait to see who he is kishi made it so that we would be doing this. the the fact remains he has so many tricks up his sleave its increadable. like itachi showing sasuke what really happened then telling him he will always love him was a big twist. the battle between naruto, guy,kakashi, and bee is almost over well maybe but i garuntee soon within the next 4 chapters we will know who he is.

I've never heard of the save before the rocks collpsed on him. It's always been a healing after the fact or T/S unlocks at the perfect moment. This is the first I've heard of what you're saying.

Anyway. The very next chapter Minato arrives late and tells Kakashi, Rin told me everything. And that he's sorry he was too late. He wouldn't know he's too late unless he saw the body for himself. The odds that Minato leaves the area without Obito's body are slim to none. If you say that they didn't find the body and never mentioned it, then when there is a/the obito reveal, Kakashi will be like..."I knew it had to be you. We never found your body and your sharingan works just like mine. This is a poor twist because it only works for the reader, not Kakashi (who would easily figure this out), Obito's friend. And simply dancing around a fact like, "oh, we never found obito's body" and never suggesting it in the manga would be too lame for me as a reader. No offense to you, but it would just be bad.

So now we need a miracle save by Madara or miracle unlocking of T/S and Kishi writing a surprise for us that was obvious to the good guy closest to him in the past.

Well I actually find this question a little humorous since we've seen what short time skips can do to for characters who are determined to become more powerful.

In just a few weeks, Itachi became proficient enough with MS to take out the most powerful clan members, thanks to some help from Tobi.

In one month both Naruto and Sasuke learned A rank techniques. Naruto figured out how to tap into his Kyuubi chakra and bring out a high level summon and Sasuke learned how to mimic part of Lee's taijutsu and speed. They jumped from genin level to low chuunin level. Thanks to powerful masters.

Then after a two year time skip, under Jiraiya's tutelage Naruto became at least high Chuunin level and with Oro's vast knowledge and forbidden techniques Sasuke became as strong as high level jonin, he was possibly even a low S rank at that time.

Now you take the most powerful, experienced shinobi alive with a vast knowledge of ninjutsu and you give him Obito as a student, tell me what do you think's going to happen. Of course Obito would be able to become S class in that time period, although obviously he wasn't able to become more powerful than Minato but it still makes sense.

Itachi was called a once in a generation genius. Kakashi couldn't touch him.

Sasuke was also called a genius.

Naruto has a kyubbi. tapping into that chakra is different than learning at a genius level. And doing so consistently. He could also train hard due to his durability.

How can Tobi be the most powerful genius alive if minato beat him? And Minato was already Obito's sensei? He can't teach secret Uchiha techniques, but still, Obito was a clutz by Uchiha standards. He just had a strong eye (two Tomo on initial unlock).

I think the best argument against Tobi=Obito theories would be examining Obito's motives for betraying the village and killing innocent people. That is what seems the most out of character. My best theory is that his near death experience led him to despise war more than anyone so similar to Itachi and Nagato, he's working from his own sense of justice, he was probably corrupted by Madara and the Elder Son's philosophy that power is the way to peace. Especially since he was always weaker than Kakashi and used to be too scared to fight so he wasn't able to protect the people he cared about.

The best argument is that Madara knew of Nagato as a brat and knew Tobi (Kabuto referred to Tobi as "him"). It's not coincidence that both Tobi and Madara had an "eye of the moon plan." Now either you have to admit that Tobi and Madara were accomplices and that Madara died when Nagato was a brat, before Obito was born... or that Madara left Nagato in Tobi's care ( to resurrect him) and the last saw nagato, as a boy, ALSO meaning Tobi was around before Obito was born.

Whenever I bring this up to people's Obito theories, I never get a response....not even a contrasting theory.
