An army of Uruk-hai and a white wizard against a couple thousand men with Rocket Launchers. I take it you've only seen the LotR movies. A white wizard, near Gandalf's level of strength in white, who solo'd a Balrog.

And an army bred to perfection and capable of killing Numenoreans.

He also brings down mountains.

ehh? No Numenorians were about to invade Heaven and continent bust it..no Saruman would be helpless against the lords of the seas in their prime

The Dunedein what little was left and dwindled in that era is another matter entirely and even then Boromir took out quite a few Urakhai soldiers

that being said it hardly matters if you read Tolkiens author notes and expanded stuff a Numenorian army would likely be trouble for any nation that isn't the US or China or Japan or the UK or France

especially if they get their god sats..and hypersonic arrows and MOAB's that can level about two thousand square feet per shot

mountain top and it was Gandalf not Saruman, Gandalf who is arguably one of the four strongest Maiar whereas Saruman is in the bottom half of the top ten or fifteen

that being said all Saruman has to do is strike up a conversation

I didn't say they were stronger than Numenoreans! I just said they were able to kill one. And no, Saruman was bring it down before they went into the Mines.

a very watered down one but yeah that's impressive

for an example of watered down Dunedein strength: Denethor was able to hold off near constant mind rape by Sauron through the Palantir despite not having legit ownership (which is always a bad thing with magical items) of said device. Now the experience destroyed him mentally and physically stressed him out so much he started rapidly aging (Faramir lived to be like 120 or so Denethor couldn't have been more than eighty or so years old yet IIRC was very much haggard and weak) yet he was still physically powerful enough to run across a massive tower complex and hurl himself off a building while on fire

ehh I recall that being vague in the book Gimli believed the mountain itself was attacking them, and Frodo thought he felt whispers from Sauron commanding the mountain..IIRC Gandalf wasn't sure but the men and Legolas believed Saruman was telling the mountain to "wake up" and "grow angry"

I guess though its a safe bet to assume it was Saruman or Sauron and not the mountain itself (lol Gimli)

did you read the appendices? His voice rape is so good he was able to voice screw The Witch King of Agmar himself and influence him and this was through a magical intercom no less

it was Sauron and they didn't bring him down he left

and yeah it was the white council which included all the Istari and Galadriel and Elrond and Denethor

but Galadriel was the one who did the physical work she basically personally leveled the entire fortress shattering down the walls and then basically leveling it to where she reduced it to a smoldering crater and butchered everything in there(she was pretty powerful mentally and physically )

the rest of the council did the spiritual battling but again Sauron threw the fight because he had no more need of the region and his forces in mordor were ready

oh this fight will happen in the hobbit

yup in fact if they do it right it should be in the one showing up this Christmas..and not next year

although I have no idea if the white council will be as powerful as it was in the books..seeing Kate Blanchet basically do what Pein did but on a smaller scale might break some folks suspension of disbelief

but yes to my knowledge the entire white council all the Istari in the west of ME included will be present and the battle will happen
