Where do you think Aang would rank on the Naruto tier list?
We already know his is a top tier speedster. In the show it is said he can run faster than the wind and we see him move so fast guards couldn't see him, easily outrun animals, and catch up with his friends after giving them at least a 2 minute headstart. And I would count him as a taijutsu master since each form of bending requires mastering a different form of martial arts. He's also an expert at evading because of his air bending. The lack of a need to form hand seals would be a huge advantage and he could continuously attack before his opponent could use ninjutsu. If we count Appa as his summon, that gives him plenty of air power and some additional strength. Of course he couldn't do anything against giant frogs but against individual opponents Appa could be a problem. There are also some special moves that would make him formidable such as his earth armor, air scooter, and ability to use ice. Then the Avatar State makes him really powerful, I'd also say that it makes him immune to genjutsu. I could see that giant ocean monster taking out an entire battlefield and the air sphere he makes can block almost any attack. The biggest weakness Aang has to deal with is how vulnerable he is to things like kunai and physical attacks. I'd put him solidly at Kage level. Last edited by JLI2infinity; 06-05-2012 at 01:15 PM. |

From what I know of him, he could probably get about as far as Kakuzu.
Putting him up against an opponent like Gaara or 3RK seems like overkill, so I would maybe put him at Low-Kage level. |

If Aang gets to start in his EoS avatar state, or if the starting distance is far enough to allow him to enter it, then he solidly beats any of the current kage.

I don't see Gaara as that much of a problem on a normal battlefield. He wouldn't be able to crush Aang because Aang could just create an air sphere when the sand surrounded him, and if Aang used water he could slow Gaara's sand down. But escaping that tsunami would be tough. I think fighting the Avatar State might be too much for Gaara as we saw him getting overwhelmed by Madara's clones last chapter. But yeah 3RK seems like overkill for sure. |

Avatar mode though he should be very fast. Quote:

Kakuzu gets killed. Aang is just simply better than Kakuzu and can control his elemental attacks. Kakuzu soundly beats Base Aang though. Or he can also beat Avatar Mode if he is very close enough to blitz and blast through his wind shield. If that is a possibility. Quote:
He just has to watch for Aang's water and elemental versatility.

If Aang is already in his air shield then Gaara literally has no way to hurt him while Aang can just plow right through any defense he puts up and smash him apart.

I remember there was a thread on Gaara vs Avatar Aang in NF not too long ago actually. Maybe a year ago.
It was partially split although I think more went for Gaara.

There was also a thread on MF where I showed that Aang in his EoS air sphere could solo all the kages due to them simply not having anything to put him down other than dust release which doesn't have good enough range and takes too long to fire. Aang can simply stay in the air and spam rock bullets. (that was speed equalized, though)

I'd say calling him a top level speedster is a little much, most Genin can move faster than the eye can see over short distances in part 1, someone like part 1 Lee without his weights would blitz Aang before he can even enter the Avatar state assuming they don't start massively far apart.

And distance too. I will have to find that Gaara thread one day again. Quote:
I don't think it would hurt to say Aang has good reactions though.

Aang really is a glass cannon, and most people have enough speed to blitz in.
Is redirected lightning anywhere near as fast as normal lightning? I assume not, but might a well inquire.

The one that took several seconds to move a city's block worth of distance?

Its because of the whole Combustion Man's fire bending having the whole spiral sonic boom affects drawn literally.

I'd debate that since the heat could make such an effect occur as well. Massed friction has been known to create sonic booms, despite not moving at such speeds as supersonic (the sonic barrier actually acts as a vaccum due to pressure).
Also didn't aang have time to say something like "Saaka watch out" and then toss him aside even though combustion man was just like a rooftop away? That doesn't seem very fast.

Quotations in the manga or comics are not a good way to judge supersonic since talking is a free action sadly although it could hold a bit more water in animation.
I really do not know though. I am willing to not care that Avatar State Aang could have supersonic reactions though.

It doesn't take long. Deep breathe in and that is it.

Can't afford that much time when people in naruto casually move supersonic/transonic.

You know I remember those threads debating about Narutoverse speeds in VIZ.
