Copyrighted Content Rule Suggestion

No images, videos (besides those on vizanime.com and hulu.com), fanart, fanfiction, fansubs, or scanlations that make use of official characters or storylines owned by VIZ Media.

Anyone noticed that the people who violate this rule are all the fairly new members with less than 100 posts ? Maybe it would be a good idea to make it so user's with less than 100 posts can't post links or images. Thoughts ?

The iage limit is already at 20-25 or so.

But I don't know how you would stop someone posting links besides not letting them post.

I believe there is a permission setting to stop people posting links and images. If not, there's a modification that can do this.

That's a bit much,first avatar privileges(profiles so on and so forth) and now posting links. It seems a bit excessive.

Well, I suspect that people register here and just start posting links at random to sites that aren't allowed to be posted here, without being aware of the rule of not to post them. Hence, a link restriction will make them aware that they can't post copyrighted content here.

FYI, some of the huge communities like PokeCommunity and so forth have various restrictions, such as being able to post links, for various reasons. Usually, it's to stop spambots posting links all over the place, but on forums like this, it would be useful in stopping people posting illegal links everywhere.

Eventually, this forum will be in a state of restrictions so that the rules get upheld. There's also the benefit that this will lessen the staff's workload, albeit it would delay it only for a short time.

I'd rather have the occasional broken rule than to keep members contained, out of fear that they'll do something that can easily be remedied, so strictly that they can barely function.

You do have a point, but I see this suggestion as a benefit. Even if it's only 10 posts, at least it lets them know about the "don't post illegal stuff here" rule.

If we really want to do something, maybe we could take a page from the book of video games. By that, I mean a pop up box that appears the first time a user posts a link. Something like:

You are posting an image or link. Beware for if the image or link contains porn, content of a graphic nature or VIZ-owned content (including, but not limited to Naruto, Bleach and One Piece), you may be infracted.

While searching for pokemon emulators I have come across that forum,but that's tweak I didn't even notice. Users there have full access to post pictures,their own avatars and other jazz along those lines. Here you gotta make a certain amount of posts to just to say you're gender on your user page.Though you can't compare these two forums to eachother because it's like apples and oranges, sony and microsoft...
This is just my opinion on these things, other people have been appointed to take care of these things so normal users could post normally.

That would be a good thing to add, at least it reminds the user about the rule not to post copyrighted content. If something like that could be implemented, it'd be good

I took PC as a comparison for Big Board forums. However, the difference is that PC has MUCH less spam than this forum does. Each community is slightly different. Having been a member there before, I know about PC, but I believe they had some restrictions on what you could do.
