Morocco's penal code allows a rapist to marry his victim if she's a minor to avoid prosecution and to save the honor of the victim's family. The marriage takes place if both parties agree. However, there have been many instances where the court suggest the parents of the victim to sign the contract in order to avoid scandals. The father of the victim claims that the judge suggested that type of proceeding to his family (bottom of the article). This is simply unacceptable as it could potentially allow the villain to get away with a crime. What do you think? Does this law do any sort of justice to the victim or is it simply an easy escape route for the wrongdoers to avoid prosecution and thereby avoid scandals? Debate.

Yes I agree with you guys, this law gives the rapists an escape route and allows them to get away with their crime. This law is a curse to the victims. It must be abolished.

There have been many protests and the gov is supposed to do something about it when they go over this "law".

Yes, their code is simply different from ours. They probably look at our lack of emphasis on honor in the same way.

The really sick thing about this is that Morroco is considered one of the most advanced places for Women's Rights in that part of the world.
