The poison might not destroy them, but it'd still paralyze/immobolize the human heart that's driving the monsters, would it not?

it seems to ravage internal organs granted it can take days to die and the guys cloud range seems about a dozen or so meters

Given Kakuzu fire attack strength. I am thinking Sasori is charcoal.
Iron skin certainly prevents any attack from penetrating Kakuzu, and we have essentially no feat based info on how will Sasori's gas works.
Heck even Sasori's fancy poison took forever to kill an ancient woman.

I doubt that Sasori would be able to destroy the hearts.
Kakuzu has Iron Skin and strength defending him from the puppets, and also has alot more knowledge.

Also his hearts have Fire, Water etc. Justus which (since the puppets travel in groups) could be Destroyed fairly easily.

Sasori has no chance in piercing Iron skin unfortunately. The guy is very dangerous because of very complex poisons embedded in every attack, but the problem is they're all surface level attacks (scratches, blocks, etc).

Kakuzu's four offensive masks will mop the floor of all Sasori's puppets. Hell, Kakuzu can destroy dozens of them with his unorthodox taijutsu alone.

His transformations to suit different ranges is a nightmare for Sasori.

Posion gas might be a plus for Sasori, but then again, Kakuzu has strong wind style attacks; he can just blow that away.

When you consider the amount of damage that Sasori can do with iron sand blocks (he destroyed the whole cave), I presume that a large attack can pierce Kakuzu's earth skin. However, he should be able to block out the rest.

I think this match is close because Kakuzu has such good counters to Sasori's stuff, but his large scale elemental onslaught would probably get him the win eventually.

If Sakura can beat Sasori, Kakashi can. Of course, it was a long hard battle with Lady Chiyo's help, so Kakashi would be poisoned like Kankuro was but he'd still live.

Even if it does, and infects all his hearts, Kakuzu will just crush the Sasori shell and claim the muppet heart. That would be weird. Now the question is whether Sasori overtakes Kakuzu, or if there's some strange soul-fusion.

Anyways the puppets would mainly use physical attacks right but his iron skin can not be penatrated by physical attacks. But Kakuzu would probally get overwhelmed by the sheer amount of puppets

They would all get destroyed by a Fire/Wind combo. It took a skyscraper sized Wind/Water combo to counter that.

It seems that Iron Sand can be manipulated to form several different shapes. These are usually made for different tasks, like how the Kazekage puppet created a huge block of iron to be used as a huge crushing attack. If he creates the spear-like structure that he used in his fight, it's possible that it might penetrate.

Kakuzu isn't going to stand still of course, so Sasori will have to lure him into mid-air or a spot that he can't escape from. If it needs to, I'm sure the puppet can manipulate the Iron Sand to form a robust shield for the huge elemental attacks. Gaara uses this at times with a less dense form of sand, and it seems to work fine for him. I don't think Kakuzu would separate the hearts, as than they'll be vulnerable and out of Iron Skin's defense.

Unlikely.

It's stored in all of his weapons.
As far as we know, Kakuzu blows away the poison and gets stabbed by a Kunai, gets paralyzed, and dies.
