Flight and the extremely unnecessarily prolonged threat of life-wiping aren't why he wins.

He fights people that routinely dodge bullets and can cut through buildings like tissue paper.

With your first statement I agree with. But the second one, I disagree with entirely. I was joking, and I don't think sephiroth is idiotic. He is a really cool villain in my perspective,

Because he wasn't in his Seraph form after absorbing the life stream, nor did he have black materia.

In the movie, it was pretty much him projecting himself onto kedaj through cloud.

In which cloud should have died.

But seriously. The guy routinely cuts apart buildings. And can fly.

Kuja is a legitimate planet buster. It actually happens in an FMV.

Sephiroth is not. If you prolong the fight against Pegasus Sephiroth, he even uses it twice. I had no idea we had 2 jupiters.

Meteor takes at least a week to hit. It is also not planet busting, as it just wounds the planet like Jenova did. For that matter, he needs the Black Materia for that and time to summon it, and a source of energy from the lifestream, which he has none of that on hand.

However, Crisis Core had me impressed with his abilities when he fights Genesis and slices through Jeuno Cannon like it's butter.
