The climax of Penumbra: Overture. Or, you know what, the ending of of the entire Penumbra series is pretty furking melancholy too.

Infamous 2 had 1 semi-sad ending and 1 semi-happy ending, Bioshock 1 and 2 had happy/sad endings, Deus Ex: Human Revolution has a couple endings that speak a message that are sad, Red Faction: Armageddon isn't exactly sad but one of the events in the game make the ending sad

FF7 was Uber Sad for me. I was 11, and didn't have the internet then to spoiler alert me on what happened. It was a new game. And I was also mad cause I unlocked Great Gospel for Aries. UGH.

FF10 as well, on the airship.

MGS3 was pretty sad when he salutes The Boss's grave... damn government...

And Pokemon Blue, after I caught Mewtwo and beat the Elite Four without switching Pokemon.... I was like "

do I do now?" ..... Rare Candy x5000, okgo. Once I beat Lance with a bellsprout, I quit.

Yeah some Zelda endings are somewhat bittersweet & sad, even OoT is sorta sad in the end....and FF7 HAS to rank in there! that moment has been a permanent fixture in any saddest video game moment list ever since!

They invited the King to go with them, but at the last moment he refuses and drowns with his kingdom. You gotta feel bad for Link, because he had bonded with the King over the course of the game and he just helplessly watches him die. YouTube: And Skyward Sword makes it worse. Spoiler: The Wind Waker is the last time Link and Fi will ever meet in the Adult Timeline, because now she's stuck at the bottom on the Great Sea, never to meet him again. And Speaking of Skyward Sword: Spoiler: I almost cried when Fi had to return to the Master Sword and sleep eternally in it to kill off Demise's remains. She even says that Link made her feel Happiness when they were together, something she's never experienced, and the moments they shared are her most treasured memories. Hell, Impa's death is sad too. Both Zelda and Groose had bonded with her two forms over the course of the game, and she just disappears right in front of them without even saying goodbye. YouTube: I also almost cried when Zelda/Hylia went to sleep for a thousand years. Link's face..even he looks like he was about to cry.
