Thing is, the gif is wrong. Everyone knows it's spelled Satoday. Yesterday was Linsday (or Wangsday for some) and today is Thosday.

So, I've come up with a theory:

Amon is an energybender.

"Well, no shite" you're probably saying.

However, energybending is MORE than just taking a bender's power away. How do I know this? It was explained that people bended energy before elements, so what would be the point of bending energy if you couldn't take anything away?

I feel that the taking away is just a high-level technique, while energy bending increases the mechanical and kinetic energy is a person to make them physically attack better. E.g. resisting Tarlokk's BBing.

Energybending wouldn't really be a non-benders' defninition of oppressive, as it doesn't do anything unnatural, since it only increases physical capabilities.

The most common theory is that he's not an energy bender, but a ridiculously good Chi-blocker. Or he is an energybender, and a regular bender and is just lying because he wants power.

I'm hoping he's just his own character and his words are true. I think revealing him to be a power-hungry bender would be lame and anti-climatic. Though, the "Chosen by the spirits" thing is definitely fishy.

I really doubt it's Chi Blocking. If it was Chi Blocking, I think the healers would be able to fix it. I mean, that's how Waterbenders heal; they redirect Chi Pathways blah blah yadda yadda. I feel like that would undo any sort of Chi Blocking eventually.

IIRC when Ty Le chi-blocked some soldiers during The Drill Katara was able to help them but not completely undo the Chi-blocking immediately. As I said, some really strong Chi-blocking might do it.

Not only that, but there's something about the way Amon takes bending. Aang does it from the front using the Forehead and Chest, Amon does it from behind using the Forehead and Neck (There's a spot on the neck called the Amon). The Forehead or Neck was said by Guru Pathik to control Fear or something. Benders fear losing their bending. Make what you will of that. The "Blocking Chakras" theory is the most popular one concerning Amon's de-bending powers.

This is a good show.

Despite Mako being a **** with this whole relationship business, he's my favourite character from either series. Personality-wise, he's my type of char.

I don't really like Korra. Even outside of the Asami/Mako situation, her character doesn't impress me. I tend to not mesh well with hot-headed characters. Aang was more energetic and youthful than reckless. Korra, is more "GRR-RAWR and smash".

And overall, I prefer the LoK cast to the TLA cast. The only characters I really grew to like from TLA were Sokka and Zuko. I didn't mind Katara and Mai/Azula/Ty Lee, but the bender bros (Mako/Bolin) and Asami beat out the TLA characters overall.
