An avator is an object representing the user. That takes a two-dimensional form here on the fourms as an icon. It may take a three-dimensional form in viedo games for example the Miis for the nintendo systems.

Despite having no tone or physical presence, an avatar generally reflect the user's personality in an unspoken way. In the case of sticky, it's more a cut and dry example of being a goofball. But I am hesitant to stand by that cuz having a sakura as an avatar implies that I like her... >.>
