Deserving love?

Easily the biggest load of bs in the pairings debates. If loving someone for a long time means you deserve someone, then I deserve to be with Taylor Swift. I've been in love with her/idolizing her ever since Tear drops on My Guitar dropped in 2007. I told her that I loved her at a concert earlier this year. Does that mean Taylor Swift and I should get together? No.

Besides, it works for pretty much every pairing. Hinata has admired Naruto since the Academy. Naruto has loved Sakura since they first met. Sakura has been obsessed with Sasuke since they first met. The same applies for Karin and Sasuke and so on.

Seriously, if you say "NaruHina because she has loved him for like 5 years and confessed his love. She said she would die for him," another person could say, " NaruSaku because he has risked his life for her countless times." You could possibly plug SasuSaku into that equation too.

Well I definitely see your point about the fallacy in this logic--not only can it be carried across to almost any mainstream pairing where the character has appeared to "earn" the "right" to be loved, but also isn't that a fundamentally just very wrong concept? Oo We have to earn the right to be loved by doing something ridiculously stupid or dangerous? Shouldn't everyone by default be "deserving love?" xD Or is anyone seriously going to tell me there are characters/people in the world that shouldn't be loved? Oo and that is independent of whether you like a character or not--they should still have the right to find their own happiness/love so I really don't see how one character can be more "deserving" of love than any other, though they might be more lovable or admirable--but that's completely different.

I agree. Deserving Love and a couple simply being 'cute' or looking good together are some of the dumbest reasons for a pairing to be justified as canon or better than another.

If the former was the case, I'd be entitled to be with Link, Dr. House, Kisame, Slade, Konan..etc. And if the latter had a good enough reason, well a ton of my pairings would be canon, including ones that share the same people.

to me this is a sensative subject. everyone is about deserving love and the caracters that show love but what about the relationship between itachi and sasuke. itachi deserves the hidden leafs love does he get it no. even though hes inthe right sasuke only hates him is it fair that itachi get deserving hate even though what he did was out of love. on another note sasuke and sakura she loves him right still now she hasnt denied it but he has tried to kill her yet in my mind he still deserves love no not deserves it but given it. i think about it like the first post about taylor swift love shouldnt be "deserved" its earned and given. someone who gives their all to someone should seem like they deserve it but they dont always get it case and point hinata and naruto she deserves his love but she hasnt got it because of this messed up love chain.lol the only character in the series in my eyes that fits the deserving love is gaara. hear me out he is hated all through naruto. naruto shows him its ok to love and what happens he takes that and becomes kazekage now he deserves the love of his village. thats just my take on it.
