this is... and interesting one.

i'm pro choice, but i think people should only get them when they're raped, will die from either the pregnancy or birth, or if the baby would die right after birth. and only in the first trimester.

My views on abortion are this. You have other options even if you were raped so why choose abortion? Abortion is murder. It keeps from giving a baby a chance. The only time in my opinion abortion is necessary is if the carrier would die during childbirth. So generally don't have sex if you can't raise a baby.

Even if there still is safe sex, it's not 100% guaranteed

I really don't think you have the right to say "There are other options" unless you've been raped and gotten pregnant from it. I'm willing to bet you haven't, but I can't be sure.

Oh you can say it, but I don't think the logic is likely to curtail emotional trauma--likely exacerbate in fact.

The part that I cannot fathom is the part where someone wakes up one morning saying, "I think I'll make my living 'Killing off my own kind--when they are too weak to cause me harm'".

I don't think someone should just be able to say "Damn, shouldn't have gotten drunk and forgot to make sure he was wearing a condom. Good thing that abortion clinic is on my speed dial."

However, if you were raped, you should have the right to have an abortion. Maybe some people could deal with raising that child or knowing it's out there, some people wouldn't, in my opinion, and it's not right for a select group to say "Well, you're taking a life, you're a horrible person." Same if you wouldn't survive, or the baby wouldn't survive or both.

Technically it'd be the rapist's fault for the babies death, just don't think it's fair to say "Oh you killed a baby that's awful." when it's not even their fault they had one. Other than that there is adoption, but if you've been raped why have to go through labor and pregnancy for a baby that is a reminder of what happened?

Just focusing on accidental/unintended pregnancies, the real issue is whether or not it should be a legal matter. No one really cares if you like it or not. Even among the pro choice, it's not as if they like that babies are being aborted; unless you do, in which case you're more in the realm of weird than pro choice

. It's about whether abortion's something to be systematized and dealt with on the highest level.

If you're going to make it a legal matter, you're literally diviluging authority over all babies and new born people's to the government. It's similar to people arguing for the right to commit suicide, particularly in cases where they're seriously sick, and or just waiting to die in their current circumstances. Whether you'd like them to kill themselves with the help of others or not, you're saying that they no longer have a right to their own life. They're stripped of the right to decide whether they want to live. You're taking a very fundamental right away from them in denying them that. The issue there isn't that someone's giggling with glee that someone is going to die, let alone wants to. It's whether that's their decision or the government's.

So again, the real issue(s) of abortion aren't really on moral grounds, but whether it should be a legal matter. Not everything works well within the realm of law, both in not needing to be legislated, and in that if you can't really enforce a law in any real way, it's more a parody than a law. If you make abortion illegal, then people are still going to get abortions, only now it's dangerous enough to be made into a TV movie. Even if you shut down main stream abortion clinics, getting one would still be easier than picking up drugs, and we all know how well the war on that's been going

They've made tons of movies glorifying drug culture at this point as well. The whole thing is a bane on the legal system, not to mention the economy. That's another issue though
