Since Birdo's first appearance in Super Mario Bros. 2, we wonder if the creature is male or female. For one, Birdo spits eggs out of the round mouth. Still, it has a taste for jewelry because of the diamond ring. Birdo made appearance in Mario sports as a playable character or a fan. Mario fans, this thread is you.

I see. Nintendo made a mistake of naming Ostro instead of Birdo because of ostrich-like qualities and egg-spitting abilities. Birdo was the mistake, yet it has been the name since then.

im used to calling it birdo.....its a male?? or female..confused now...
i think the first time ive seen it was in mario kart double dash or mario golf toadstool tour

The memories,playing Super Mario 2 as a kid and always beating Birdo to beat the level....memories,but yet back then i never thought of gender with him/her.

Nintendo says Birdo is male but i still think he's a Female,but thats gonna be the topic for years to come until Miyamoto says it for sure.
