Silly Blind, warp speed is a result of "folding" the space between your position and desired location, thus shortening the distance.

That is what warp drive does. Warp speed is the generic term for speeds faster than light in Star Trek.

I agree with Nick. Warp is taking a shortcut. It is by it's own definition not traveling faster than light.

I think of Warp Speed like this:

If I take a shortcut and get their faster, that doesn't mean I was moving at a higher speed, I just took a shortcut.

Let me clarify, I am not a Trekkie. I just saw this on TV either on a show about Star Trek or about Spacial Concepts, on the History Channel most likely.

I understand that. Star Trek isn't based on fact, but a lot of the concepts are interesting. Your basic assumptions of warp drive in Star Trek are basically correct so I applaud you. Warp speed in Star Trek isn't entirely consistent. If this were a Star Trek website, I would totally go in depth about this xD
