In order to enjoy Bleach you must remember the golden rule:
Soul Reapers can't be killed. Except by other Soul Reapers. If you remember this simple rule you will enjoy Bleach. If you don't you will find yourself disappointed when no matter how much a Soul Reaper is cut in half they won't die. Many people found the Fake Karakura Town Arc disappointing because they were expecting that with all the Espada being hyped like they were that they would be able to kill at least one Soul Reaper. But such expectations were not met. However if those people had known or remembered the golden rule they would not be expecting such things. I know what you're asking. But didn't Gin Ichimaru die and Tosen Kaname too? Yes they did. However Gin was killed by a Soul Reaper (Aizen) and Tosen just exploded for no reason. Because...well he's Tosen. But if Soul Reapers are so great then why is Ichigo so pathetic in early Fullbring Arc? The answer is simple. He doesn't have powers. Note that when he gets Fullbring he's more determined and when he gets Soul Reaper powers again he's REALLY determined? Will Ginjo live since he's a Sub Soul Reaper (or at least was)? Or will Ichigo kill him since he's a Sub Soul Reaper?

Tosen got stabbed in the head by a Soul Reaper. ;D
Also, Tosen was an Arrancar/Espada when he died, so he could technically get merced by anyone. EDIT: Also, to enjoy Bleach, stop reading after the Fake Karakura Town Arc.

Agreed, somewhat. I think it's obvious Ichigo is going to kill Ginjo. With Aizen, his defeat wasn't obvious because he'd just pissed off so many people that you could never tell which one was gonna finish it, but Ginjo hasn't really pissed off anyone more than Ichigo, so of course Ichigo's gonna kill him.
Actually, no he's not. Ichigo's obviously going to defeat him, since they're both Substitutes, Ginjo's been the second most important character in Bleach since his introduction, and he's now tied for main antagonist. But Ichigo never kills anyone. Ikkaku, Renji, Kenpachi, Byakuya, and Aizen are all still alive. Grimmjow was killed by Nnoitra, and Ulquiorra was killed by an Ichigo whose inner Hollow had taken over him. Ichigo just doesn't kill. Ichigo did say he'd kill Tsukishima, but he was at a point of despair then. Rukia showed up and snapped him out of it, so he won't be killing anyone, just beating.Aizen cause him to explode, probably figuring that after Tosen got the same weakness Hisagi saw in him he'd be a useless ally. After the FKK Arc is the climax of the entire arc with Aizen as the main antagonist, and that was the highlight of the whole thing (save Yammy's quick defeat, which I didn't find all too disappointing). Then it gets to the Lost Substitute Shinigami Arc, which I thought was just as good as the beginning of the series. Last edited by deidara330; 08-26-2011 at 08:47 PM. |

I'll be honest, I hate this most recent arc. The only bright side is that Ichigo has his powers back, Yamamoto showed how nobody disrespects him lest they be smitten, and Kenpachi stood badassly in the background.
I'm hoping that all of those things mean the series will turn back around for me. And Ginjo doesn't end up sucking too badly.

I'd at least like more reasoning for why this arc is bad.

Poor writing, plot is either rushed or too slow, no character development for anyone except the two bad guys, Fullbring concept seems like it was pulled out of Kishi's ass, everything is too conveniently placed (i.e. Ginjo is a villain just as Ichigo gets his powers back/Ginjo can absorb powers with his sword/Ichigo's dad and Urahara never seeming to notice there's half a dozen superpowered freaks destroying their town and lives, etc.), shameless excuse to retcon Ichigo's character/powers.
Again, I'm just hoping for more Yamamoto and Kenpachi. That is all. You are a god amongst men for pointing this out.

You just need patience in order to enjoy the recent arc. For the most part, you see an established hero lose everything, only to go through training again. Add the fact that Kubo introduces a brand new power that isn't as flashy as the previous, a week-by-week release will surely add confusion/impatience.
I'm sure if any new readers of Bleach read this arc continually, then they would enjoy it much more than the caught-up readers. Btw, Ginjo has been a pleasant surprise. I looked at him with little respect as the stereotypical new trainer with decent power. When he turned out to be the mastermind behind everything, his character became much more appealing. Giving him a bamf look with a reiatsu explosion saved for high tier fighters only helped his cause. I'm actually hoping that when he eventually gets defeated, he gets sent to prison similar to Aizen. From there, it's revealed that they have a tie and they somehow escape. Aizen then commences his "Plan B" to rule the world with Ginjo at his side.

Fullbring arc is awesome. It has the best storyline in Bleach thus far.

^Not in my opinion. Fullbring Arc has been great, but in my opinion, it's on par with the beginning of Bleach, and the Soul Society Arc remains the highlight. If the Xcution members get more development and more abilities, I'd like it more. I'd absolutely love this arc if Tsukishima killed Riruka. (Although, in terms of character development, Ichigo's never been better than this arc, which is really all that it's about.)

Fullbring Arc is better than Soul Society Arc as far as I'm concerned.

You mean the hunt for Rukia part? I thought it was alright, though Kubo has a bad habit of using random plot devices without any background or reasoning behind them, especially in terms of the executioner's thing that they tried to kill Rukia with (can't remember name, 1am, tired).

I just think the Soul Society Arc introduced a lot of great new characters and powers and played a whole lot more on character relationships and the mystery of what was really going on in the SS. Really, it's a lot of what makes the Fullbring Arc good, but my biggest hope with the arc is that the side characters of the Fullbring Arc (Yukio, Giriko, Jackie, Moe, etc.) get more development, backstory, and abilities in the next arc.
