Ahh I see, then that would fall under telekentic powers... interesting, hadn't even thought of that, you'd have to take penalties but... yeah that could work. I'd give you a stunt bonus.... yeah I like the way that sounds

I'm just gonna ramble for a second:

So i've got 3 major builds, I ended up splitting the psi-powers to be geared more towards social atts/skills, the magis are probably going to fall into mental build which leaves the others who are probably geared towards physical.

Now the first two, easy-peasy, it's just a matter of figuring out the power trees and giving them a cost or value system. Stuff's pretty straight forward and it's pretty easy to tell if you've got an ability that's way over powered or one that's too weak.

The third set, the physical ones, that's the wall I'm trying to climb. The problem is they're constants. With the first two I can treat them like straight merits, you spend WP or Ess or whatever, that keeps the players from spamming charms or whatever, but the physical stuff.... Things like super strength, super speed, etc. those are all abilities that should remain constant with your player you don't have an essance pool for lifting or throwing.


There's like two ways I can think of to balance this out but I don't really like either, I can put them in as constants but put them in as almost weaker abilites (IE no perfect defense or anything like that) or I could just drop Dev and Lone from the game altogher, but that flaws the test itself.

Hmmm... I don't like it. Maybe giving them more stamina rolls? But again that should really be considered a constant part of their character... and likewise if they build their characters without being nobs they'd have high stamina anyway?

What if they 'performed' better depending on like, stress? Like could you do a roll for their level of stress/duress/adrenaline/or based on continued use or having not used the ability for awhile? I'm not really sure how to help because I'm new to the rolling for stuff thing.

Like if they rolled a 10 stress they'd perform better because they'd be in dire straights? But then that wouldn't work because what if they rolled a one but boulders were tumbling.

Right, on that second part I think you sorta see the problem.

Here's what I'm basically saying (let's use you as the example)

So you use telepathic abilites right? Well you're going to have a standard character sheet (like the one in the OP) that represents you at all times, reagardless of whether or not you're using any super powers. Then you're going to have Merits (we haven't gotten to Merits yet, but they're basically special abilities you can purchase to help in certain situations, for example there's one called iron lungs, means you can hold your breath longer etc.) Under your Merits is where your powers are actually going to go.

So for you, let's say you have the Merit: Mind Read, well in order to use your merit there's usually a catch, some kind of cost that you have to pay. For you it would be called Focus. Let's pretend your Focus pool is 30 and the cost of Reading someone's mind is 5 Focus.

So say you're in a situation where reading someone's mind can help you, so you pay the 5 Focus to attempt to read that persons mind, etc. etc.


The problem I have with the physical stuff is that most of the things are already represented on the sheet by attributes and skills. Like if Dev wants super strenght, his Strength att should just be 6 or 7, it's physically part of his body. Now I could do stamina rolls everytime he preforms some kind of strength feat, but the fact is if he's a physical based guy, he should have wicked high stamina to start, so a stamina roll is like... nothing, easily passable... And not only that but your power base and the magi's have more variety. The point cost makes sense because you have such a wide selection of what you could preform, it all falls under the same basic idea, but they're different in many ways.

Dev's is more one sided. Superstrong. That's it. Done. But he can do ALOT of stuff with that.

Well that's like in videogames where characters are superstrong, but they don't always punch with super strength, right? Like you could have merits of like, thick skin that makes them feel less pain/take less damage, lift lets them lift heavy ass things, super jump lets them jump much higher than a normal person and let them land without harm, etc, couldn't you?

Like for someone like a telepath, their power is constant too in that, for most telepaths, they learn things REALLY easily. It doesn't mean that they're using a power though. Maybe you could do something like that? Idk, I'm probably not helping.

I have decided to use the Occult and Firearms skills, the occult/lore skill is basically your knowledge of the supernatural and other myths, think of it like science of the unknown k? This is only going to really matter to like two people.

The firearms, thought about tossing, thought better, truth is even if i had superpowers I'd still carry a gun, total Dresden style. Sometime guns come in handy, if you want one, keep that in mind ya?

ONE LAST THING! Would anyone like to have PRE-EXISTING ties? As in people you already have a bond with? (some of you will get these anyway) What I'm basically wondering is does anyone want a love interest?

I'm about half done with Red and Maik, further with Red then Maik, but Maik's been working on something else and he tends to catch up quick.

Dev and Lone are at zero progress, not really their fault, i'm just having the most trouble sorting out their powers without hella stacking them. The balance is off is all.
