Ticket 6

Aaron stared out the window. Class was boring without Mira there. Dakota was in the back, bothering the girls, Rosalie was doing her make up as usual, and Maylena stayed home with Mira. He rolled a pencil across the desk thinking. Mira was always a bit strange around him, but she was just acting plain weird now. She almost seemed like she was mad at him.
"She's so confusing." He thought and fliped the pencil over. "Women."
"You seem distant today." Rosalie said sitting on the desk next to him.
He just shrugged and flipped the pencil over again. "Thinking."
"About?"
"Stuff."
Rosalie rolled her eyes. "Obviously. Does it have something to do with Mira?"
He looked up at her. "Ho-"
"I just had the feeling. She's been acting a bit weird lately." Rosalie sighed. "I'm a bit worried."
"I noticed it too." Aaron said. "It just seems like she's upset about something."
"I heard her talking to Eric on the phone a couple days ago so I really am worried. It may be guy problems." Rosalie said.
"If it was guy problems wouldn't she go to you or Maylena?" Aaron asked.
"That's what's worrying me. She won't talk about it to any of us." Rosalie said holding her hands up in a questioning manner. "She's been talking to Eric more and more. She was at the mall with him yesterday."
Aaron's eye twitched. "What the hell would she be doing with Eric?"
"I don't know. A couple people are spreading rumors that they're dating, but Mira denies it." Rosalie looked the other way thinking. "It almost seems like she's doing two things."
"And they are?"
"Trying to make a certain guy jealous, or trying to forget about that guy." Rosalie said.
Aaron bit the inside of his lip. Eric? What the hell was she thinking? He rolled his eyes in frustration. Eric was probably just trying to piss him off, but then again, why would she be going along with him?
"Maybe you should try talking to her tonight. She may tell you what's wrong." Rosalie sighed.
"I'll call her after school." Aaron said. "After I ask Eric a few things."

"What do you mean she just suddenly started talking to you?" Aaron asked. He and Eric were standing outside the school doors. A few people were watching, hoping for a fight.
"Just what I mean. She called me about a week ago and was being all sweet and nice to me." Eric said. "I'm just as lost and confused as you are."
Aaron sighed in irritation. "Is there anything else off about her?"
"Not that I can tell." He said looking at him strangely. "Do you have any idea why she's doing this?"
"If I knew I wouldn't have asked you." Aaron said coldly. It was killing him just to stand there and talk to him. "I'll say this right now. You do anything to hurt her, I'll kill you."
He truned and walked away with a huff. Reaching into his pocket he pulled his phone out and went through his contacts, looking for Mira's number. He pushed a button and held the phone to his ear.

"Hello?"
"Mira, what were you doing at the mall with Eric?" Aaron asked.
"Nothing. I figured since you were busy with Megan and no on else wanted to come, I'd go with him." I said almost to sweetly.
Truth was, I was trying to get my mind off of him. If he wanted Megan so badly he could have her, I'll stay out of the way, gladly.
"Why, does it bother you?" I asked.
"A bit." He said and I rolled my eyes.
"Why would it?" I asked a bit nastily. "Why should you care? You're attention is on Megan most of the time, I'm surprised you noticed."
He was silent for a moment and then he laughed a bit. "Jealous?"
"Of course not." I said almost too defensivly.
"Whatever you say." He said. "But seriously. Why are you talking to Eric?"
"Because I can?" I said. "I've got to go. My mom wants me." I siad and hung the phone up. Me? Jealous? Of course I was. I wasn't going to admit that to him though.

She's back!"
"Her ankel's still not fully healed?"
"'She looks pissed."
I rolled my eyes as the comments kept rolling on and on. I ignored most of them and kept walking, Aaron and Dakota were standing by Aaron's locker talking. I glanced over and kept walking. I was in no mood to talk. I was really edgety today and the last thing I wanted was to deal with Aaron. I walked straight to class.
"Oh look. The little freshmen's back." Jacob laughed. "How's yo-"
Before he could finish, my hand flew sideways and hit him in the face, knocking him out. He slid down the wall into a strange sitting position. Everyone around him looked at me like I was some kind of crazy demon woman. Maybe they were right. Who knows?
"I don't know who you think you are, walking around like you own this school." Calvin said. He was one of the seniors that was at the top of the pecking order here. He was tall and chubby with curlly brown hair and brown eyes.
"I could say the same for you." I said coldy as I walked by. Everyone in the hall with in hearing range made the 'Ohh' noise and started crowding around.
"I own this school." He laghed. "I've got six tickets. How many do you have? None."
I shook my head. I could use those six tickets. I'd be six tickets closer to winning. I cracked my neck and truned to face him. The hallway went silent.
"You own the school? Six tickets? That's nothing to be proud of. The pecking of this school is the worst part about it. The supposed strongest are nothing but a bunch of weak fools who assumed power by intimidation. If given a real fight I highly doubt any one of you fools could come out on top."
No one moved. No one said a word. They just stared in shock, mouths open, eyes wide. I looked at Calvin. "Nothing? No comeback? I knew you weren't anything to be worried about."
He suddenly swung at me. I threw my hand up and caught his fist. My mother had made me take some kind of martial arts, even when my ankle was in worse shape than it is now. She didn't want me getting the crap beat out of myself again. As a result I was stronger and my reflexes were a bit faster. I stepped forward, twisted his arm, and flipped him over my shoulder. He landed on the ground with a satisfying smack.
"You little..." He said and stood back up. I ducked as he swung at me again. I spun around and hit him in the stomach with my heel. Of course my ankle was screaming in pain, but this wasn't the time to be thinking about that. He bent over and staggered backwards, holding his over sized stomach. I took advantage of the moment and brought my heel down on the back of his head, slamming his head into the ground.
He looked up at me, blood dripping off his forehead and an insane glint of rage in his eyes. He reached down and pulled something out of his pocket. It was a knife. Just lovely. He forced himself to his feet and cracked his neck, letting the light reflect off the knife. He suddenly jumped at me with it. I threw my hand up, trying to stop it. It slid in between my fingers. I caught his other fist in my other hand and felt myself being pushed back against the wall. The knife was coming closer to my neck now. I had to options. Kick him in between the legs and run, or some how get the knife out of his hands. I did a bit of the first one and the second one.
My foot shot out, naling him between the legs. As he stepped back I forced his grip on the knife off and riped the weapon from his hands. He bit into his lip and forced himself to straighten up. He jumped at me again. This time I dodged it and as soon as his hand hit the wall, I drove the knife through it, nailing it to the wall. He yelled in pain but was silenced as my fist made contact with his face.,I bent down and pulled his wallet from his pocket. After looking thought it, I pulled all six tickets as well as the five hundred dollars he had out and slid both in to my own wallet. I looked behind me at the crowd of people. They had the same look as the last time I saw them. I rolled my eyes and strated walking down the hall. The kids split like the Red Sea.
I suddenly became awear of the pain in my ankle. I started limping to class. The teacher looked up as I walked in. Aaron, Dakota, Rosalie, and Maylena were already there. I guess they didn't see that fight after all, muchless know about it, but that was soon ruined when Brenda ran by the door.
"I can't believe you did that to Calvin! They're still trying to pry the knife out of the wall!" She said, breathless.
I shrugged.
"What happened?" Rosalie asked.
"You'd have to see it." Brenda said. "She kicked the hell out of Calvin."
"Knife?" Aaron asked, sounding a bit worried.
"Yeah. He attacked her with a knife and ended up getting his hand stuck to the wall." Brenda's long red hair was sticking to her face. She looked like she was one of the few kids that were encuraging the fight.
"Alright, Brenda, we can talk about the fight later." Mr. Lang said. "I quite frankly don't want to hear it."
She looked at him and rolled her eyes before running down the hallway.

"He attacked you with a knife?" Aaron asked. We were sitting in his car, looking out at the ocean. Dakota, Maylena, and Rosalie were on the beach throwing a frisbee.
I nodded. "Yep. He attacked me with a knife."
"How can you say that like it's nothing? You could have been killed." He said.
"I wasn't exactly expecting the knife to be pulled on me." I said rolling my eyes. "You act like I know what's going to happen before it does."
"What's with you lately?" He asked. "You've been acting really strangely."
"I'm fine." I said. "I'm not acting strange."
"Yes you are." He said looking over at me. "You're acting perfectly normal with everyone else, but you're just being....Mira. Seriously. Do you think I can't tell when there's something wrong? I know you too well to know there's something wrong. Will you just tell me what it is?"
"Maybe if you can figure out that there's something wrong, you can figure out what it is." I said looking at him.
Suddenly he phone rang. He answered it. "Megan?"
The way he said her name made me sick. He sounded too happy. He laughed, something that wasn't normal for him. I bit the inside of my lip. I've known him for six years and it was all I could do to make him smile even a bit, muchless laugh, and sometimes I made myself look like an idiot just to have him stare blankly at me.
"Yeah, I'll be at school tomorrow. Speaking of that, where have you been?" Aaron asked smiling. He looked over at me and his smile faltered a bit. I was sitting in the passenger seat, my arms crossed, staring out the window. I sighed.
"Hey, babe? I'll call you back in a few." He said and hung the phone up. "You alright?"
He didn't seriously hang the phone up for me. He looked out the window and motioned for Dakota and them to come on. I knew it. He looked at me strangely before turning the car on as everyone climbed in.

"Mira." I looked back before opening the door to my house.
"Seriously. It kills me seeing you like this. What's wrong?" He asked walking over and standing in front of me.
"No-"
"Mira. I'm starting to get annoyed." He said.
"Its a guy." I said and truned to walk in. "And if you can't tell who is either I haven't made it obvious enough, or you're just blind."
"Is it me?"
I stopped as my hand lingered on the door knob. I looked back over my shoulder. He was standing down at the end of the steps, looking at me. I sighed and turned back, opening the door and shuting it behind me. I dropped my bag on the couch and walked up to my room. My older sister, Kassidy, opened the door.
"So what's going on between you and Aaron?" She asked sitting next to me on the bed.
"No-" I sighed. "I like him, bu-"
"You like him but he has a girlfriend. You're mad at him and he doesn't realize it, or just realized it, and doesn't know why and you don't
to want to tell him?" She asked.
"How did you know?" I asked.
"Mira, I'm twenty three. I've had my fair share of problems just like that one." She said. "Its difficult."
"I know, but the problem is he doesn't like me like that." I said looking down.
"I don't see why not." She said pushing a strand of light blue hair out of my face. "You're beautiful, smart, funny..."
"I can't even make Aaron crack a smile." I said. "I always make myself look like an idiot in front of him."
"Aaron's always been a strange kid." She laughed and pushed her brown hair off her face. "Come on. You said you wanted to redye your hair? We can talk about this later."

"You've got two choices here, Mira. Keep hanigng around Eric and see if gets jealous and finally says something, or admit your feelings and see how he takes it." Kassidy said as she brushed my hair. It was back to its natural brown, but with carmel streaks. She was about to take a razor to it now. Kassidy was a hair stylist and a damn good one to. No one else was allowed to touch my hair.
"Which one do you suggest I do?" I asked.
"Honestly I think you should tell him." She anserwed. "I mean sure it may be embarassing, but at least you got it out of you."
"And what if Megan hears about it? What am I going to do then?" I asked.
"Kick her ass?"
"Ha. Aaron won't let me touch her." I mumbled. "I know he won't."
"Well would you rather be called a skank, or actually make Eric think you like him and break his heart when he finds out that you only did that to make Aaron jealous?" Kassidy asked as she started taking strands of hair and razoring them.
"You've got a point." I said. "I guess I'll tell him tomorrow."
"Alright. I'll be checking to see how it goes." Kassidy said.

"What do you mean you lost it?"
I looked up. One of the younger girls was being pushed against the wall. It killed me how the older kids thought it was so cool to bother the younger ones. Our school combined elementary, middle, and high school delinquent kids, so there were a lot of people.
"I-I'm sorry." She said trembling. She was probably in middle school. She was short with blonde hair a freckles underneath her light green eyes.
"You're gonna be." The boy said. He was probably a junior. He looked familiar. He cocked his hand back like he was going to punch her, but I stood up and ran over before he could. I hated people like him.
"Wha-" I jerked his arm back and it poped out of its socket. He screamed in pain and fell to the ground. I pulled two tickets from his pocket and looked at the girl. She reminded me of myself a few years back. I was a small timid child as well, at one time anyway.
"Th-Thank you." She said.
"You're welcome. He didn't hurt you did he?"
She shook her head.
"I haven't seen you around here before. Are you knew here?" I asked and she nodded.
"He gave me some gold paper, but I got beat up and some one took it from me. I was suppsoed to hold it for him." She said.
I sighed. Using little kids to draw people away from him? What a loser.
"Did it look like this?" I asked and held up one.
She nodded. "What is it?"
"Its called a ticket. Its something from a game the school's doing. I was some how drug into said game and figured I might as well play."
"How many do you have?" She asked.
"Twelve out of thrity five." I answered. "Anyway, what's your name?"
"Liza." She answered. "What's yours?"
"Mira." I answered. "What grade are you in?"
"Seventh." She answered.
"Well, if he comes bothering you again, come find me." I said and smiled.
She smiled back. "Thank you Mira." She turned and ran off towards a class room. Poor thing. She was going to have a rough time here.
I looked around. I guess it was time for me to tell Aaron. I suddenly felt a knot in my stomach. I was kind of hoping I wouldn't see him, but kind of hoping I would. I rounded one of the corners and thought I was going to scream. I'd found Aaron, but Megan was pressed against him, their lips locked together. My stomach suddenly flipped over. I felt my eyes start watering and I quickly turned away, walking back the other direction. I suddenly bumped into Eric.
"You alright?" He asked.
"N-No." I said.
I heard Aaron's voice start getting closer. I was crying now, and that was the last thing I needed him to see.
"Mi-"
I suddenly pushed myself forward and hugged Eric tightly. He stumbled backwards a bit surprised. I looked up at him, my eyes still tearing up. What the hell was I doing? Aaron and Megan walked around the corner. I swear I wasn't trying to get Aaron's attention, although I got it alright. I pushed myself up and kissed Eric. He drew back a bit startled. I blushed furiously. Lovely was I really starting to like Eric as well?
