Do African Americans deserve Reparations?

I personally have an extreme dislike of racial guilt, I never did anything to hurt any other race and so I don't believe that I should have to apologize or do anything to make up for what happened. I mean yes, it was horrible and yes, those involved should pay, but unfortunately they are all dead, and so no one else has the right to say that I owe them anything for past wrongs, nor does anyone who is a descendent of someone who was wronged deserve any type of special treatment, we are all people and none of us who are alive experienced the wrong in question thus the entire point of reparations is stupid and pointless.

I would personally say no here since African Americans were not the first slaves in history. If every government out there had to pay for some descendant of a slave no matter race etc, there would be no money for education, health programs, food programs, police, military etc.
Along those lines Native Americans get paid some what, so I can see African Americans getting paid as well. I am not racist, I am just saying what will more then likely happen.

There's no reason to give cash to them, it's years to late. Likely none of the African Americans alive today were not victims of slavery, and barely any were victims of serious segregation.

What would be better is if the government just built a memorial rather than handing out cash to millions of African Americans. Though I guess there is a reason to expect one the Japanese that were captured in WW2 were given reparations, but that was immediately after the fact and it was given to the ones affected.

And if there are any alive, it would be an extremely limited group that's numbers would most likely cap out at 9.

And I agree. Memorials last forever, and cash is fleeting.

Yeah. If there were to be cash reparations it should go to African American colleges, cities mostly occupied by African Americans, or organizations. No reason to give them all few bucks that most will spend on paying the bills or buying a new flatscreen, no way to remember what had happen.
