Masashi Kishimoto's salary?
I have no idea how manga authors like Masashi Kishimoto make money whether it's through salary or commission, but how much money do you think he makes a year? Being the creator of one of the most popular manga series right now, I'd guess he's making seven digits.

I doubt its that much. I think it'll be around 300-500.000 a year. He has his staff which need to be paid. Equipment. etc. All that will bring down his salary alot.

He probably gets a portion of each manga sold, because some will go to the store that sells it, he probably set aside an amount to go towards supplies, then another set off amount for staff, and he gets the rest. At least, that's how I'd do it, in set off's like that.

He probably works on contract. X amount of money for X amount of chapters and then he has to renew the contract. The cost of publishing and distribution is that of the publishers not the artist/author.

2 million a year EASY. just think. the DVD's are sold each episode in japan. here in america we've got the box sets. but think the first few episodes were written like HOW many years ago? 12 now? something like that. super long ago, and he gets paid from a.) Shoenen Jump b.) Viz media c.) the book company that combines all the chapters of Manga here in America d.) the MOVIES that get x million dollar budgets e.) the extra items: shirts cards blankets dolls costumes contacts autographs conventions and if he ever needed to sue someone thats just extra. i'm sure he's got well over 24 million for the 12 years the Naruto story came about .

I think Shonen Jump owns the rights which is why I wouldn't say he'd be too rich cos he could be really rich if he got the sell the rights everytime someone wants to say; make a tv show or a toy out of his series and rights to a series like his would go for millions and millions.
