What do you think?

Are piercings and tattoos a form of art/expression, or a type of self-mutilation?

I think its kinda nasty
i would never get any
one its a pain for sports you have to take out the piercings
and two i dont like what they look like
one thing i dont like is when people get tattoos all over their bodies

but its not me so i cant do anything about it

Form of art/expressions. I love tatts and piercings they are soooo hot. I'm going to get 3 tatts and 3 piercings, can't wait!

I got tats, but no piercings. Got my left ear pierced and wore an earring for a while, but not anymore.

I can agree with this statement. I also don't like when someone gets a tattoo "to be different", when it seems like a lot of people do get tattoos.

Personally, I like tattoos and want one. My older brother has two, and they look really cool. I just believe you should take some time to think before you get one to make sure you won't regret the decision later.

As for piercings, I have one ear piercing in each year, like guys with lip rings, and plan to get a nose ring some day. And besides, if you decide you don't like a piercing, you could always take the ring out and let the hole heal over.

I don't like piercings and too many tatts is just gross but one or two is cool. I'm gonna get one along my side that says "C'EST LA VIE"

I dont mind like two or three tattoos but like i said on the other post not all over your body

shkin is a canvass. it's an art for some who truly believed in it. but sadly for some it is just a bling or a fashion statement or for the sake of being "in" or they thought they would be looked upon as cool when they have it.
for me its an art. i don't get tattoos just for the sake of havin' one. i get them to express myself and mark a stage in my life...
i got three tatts already and planning on having another one. maybe next month. YAY! been long since my last tatt...
as for piercings...haven't really had one except in the ears for earrings...i respect those who wants it but piercings are not for me. =D

I think that tattoos and piercings can be amazing forms of creative expression if they have meaning and significance to the bearer. I believe that the body is an interesting canvas, and there is a fascinating concept behind using your literal physical self to express your intellectual or internal self. What better canvas to do so...

I have no tattoos yet, only a few scattered piercings, but am in the process of working with an artist to have a custom tattoo designed.

Cool! My brother designed his tattoos himself, and I occassonally work on ideas for what I might want mine to be if I ever get one. I normally come right back to the idea of the symbol I was designing for a band my bestfriend and I are going to start ^^

I have 3 ear piercings and i am soon getting a tattoo on my upper arm. i do believe it is self expression and art.
