But that doesn't mean it isn't a possibility.

Bah. Sciencetist are stupid to think that it would rip so easily. It has to hold thounsands of googles of dimsioens. Now,picture its strength. Not only does each choice you have a seperate timeline and branches off from what were on,but each time someone ELSE has a choice, along with your choice, will add on googles of googles of alternate universes/dimesions. Now, I don't think sliping through will shatter it. |

Well, I guess that's a possibility... Oh and by the way, google is the name of the website, googol is the number.

Sorry. I had caption on. I didn't think that they misspelled it. Well,if you make the machine small enough,it wouldn't punture it. Plus,deja-vu anyone? |

Umm, I wasn't talking about my sex, everyone gets confused. I kinda get touchy when people say something related to me and say something like no no, I don't know why, but it makes me feel like you think I'm childish or something.

Time travel in theory would not be required to rip anything. Time is a relative variable, therefore it is flexible in such a way that it would be almost impossible to break or otherwise damage. It is not a breakable or tangible thing, thus it cannot be damaged only changed...
Time travel would require a level of speed not physically attainable by most beings, as such beings with bodies to house their energy would not be able to perform such a feat, thus perhaps spirits could attain this gift, but I do not believe humans will ever be capable of doing it. |

People see to believe, with really no proof, thattime machines will 'punch holes into fabric of time and space and DOOM us all'. But I think thats just a good plot in science-fiction movies/books. With that, I'm off. Its 4:40 AM and my judgment along with typing, and memory,is dropping. |

I believe that it could be achieved through the use of dark matter, the stuff that binds the universe together. It would take one heck of a machine and you could only travel back as far as when the machine came into operation.

time travel into the future is certainly possible, we're doing it now...
but also real time travel into the future is theoretically possible yes. using einsteins 'time dilation' you could accelerate a ship until its very near to the speed of light, then cruise for a while, stop and come back, by the time you will have returned to earth the amount of time you will have measured on the ships clock will be far less than thats been measured on earth - in effect you've travelled forward in time. this effect is to do with 'special relativity' and as i said earlier its known as 'time dilation' - think 'moving clocks run slow'. basically the closer you are travelling to the speed of light means the slower the rate that your time is passing. as for backward time travel then the jury is still out. the physicist michio kaku recently wrote an article in 'new scientist' on what he thought were 'impossibles'. he ranked the ideas in categories 1-3, the '3' being the most impossible. he only ranked backward time travel as a rank 1, so though he thought it impossible but not an outright impossibility the other thing he said was that there are theoretical arguments over time travel that say if someone were to invent a backward time travel device then they could only use it to travel back as far as the instant it was first switched on, so invent one this year and you can only travel back as far as 2008. this would answer the time travellers from the future argument, as theyd only ever to be able to go back as far as to the time they first invented backward time travel. the other thing i recently read was that two russian mathematicians have recently proposed theoretical arguments that may predict backward time travel in sub-atomic particles seen in the new LHC collider thats planned to be switched on this year, so stick around for that. but in principle no one yet knows whether backward time travels possible - not even steven hawking...

If scientist can build a hydron collider, atomic bomb and go to the moon it wouldn't be too far a stretch to think that someday we will find a way to travel through time.

It is true that moving objects slow down and so appear to experience time slower, but this is not travelling through time. This is just experienceing it at a different rate.

Time is of human creation and therefore it could change depending on what we do with it.
