Minato Namikaze

(波風 ミナト, Namikaze Minato), also known as Konoha's Yellow Flash (木ノ葉の黄色い閃光, Konoha no Kiiroi Senkō), was the Fourth Hokage (四代目火影, Yondaime Hokage) and the father of Naruto Uzumaki. He was the student of Jiriaya and the teacher of Kakashi Hatake, Obito Uchiha, and Rin
According to those who knew him, Minato was a very talented ninja, having been considered a genius that appeared once a generation. He graduated from the Ninja Academy at the age of ten, and was added to a Genin team under the tutelage of Jiriaya. Jiraiya took a special interest in Minato, and accepted him as an apprentice, amongst other teaching him the Summoning.
In later years, Minato was put in charge of a Genin team of his own, consisting of Kakashi Hatake Rin and Obito Uchiha.

During kakashi Gaiden , set during the Third Great Shinobi War, Minato led his team on a mission into Kusagakure. Because Kakashi had recently become a jonin, Minato gave leadership of the mission to Kakashi, while he went to help Konoha's forces on the front lines. Before leaving, he gave Kakashi a special kunai as a congratulatory present, outfitted with the seal used for his Flying Thunder God TechniqueWhile helping his fellow Konoha ninja, he used the Flying Thunder God Technique to wipe out all of the opposing Iwagakure ninja in an instant. He returned to Kakashi in time to save him from another group of Iwagakure ninja, but could not save Obito. When Kakashi and Rin recovered from the ordeal, Minato helped them complete the task of destroying the Kannabi Bridge.


Fourth Hokage

Some time after the war ended, Minato was chosen by Hiruzen Sarutobi, the Third Hokage, to lead as the Fourth Hokage before he was even 30 years of age. During his reign, he had a relationship with Kushina Uzumaki, who would later become pregnant with his son. After reading Jiraiya's book, where the main character was named Naruto, Minato and Kushina decided to name their son "Naruto", in the hopes that he would grow up to be just like the Naruto of the book (Jiraiya's). This, in turn, made Jiraiya Naruto's godfather.
Soon after Naruto was born, the Nine Tailed Demon Fox attacked Konoha. Minato rushed to the village's help, where he and Gamabunta faced off against the Nine-Tails, but the beast's power could not be matched. Recognizing that the Nine-Tails was being controlled by Madara Uchiha, Minato decided to defeat it and give Konoha the means to combat Madara if he should ever attack the village again. He used the Dead Demon Consuming Seal to seal the Nine-Tails into Naruto's body, hoping that Naruto would someday be able to make use of its power. The act cost Minato his life, and he died as the village's greatest hero.


Personality


Jiraiya and Tsunade pointed out that, while Naruto physically bears great resemblance to Minato, his personality and style of Ninjutsu are almost identical to his mother. While Naruto is boisterous and relatively thick, Minato was calm, collected, and a natural genius. When faced with an enemy, he could kill in cold blood, and seemed well aware of the terror his reputation inspired in his foes. He appeared to be respectful of those around him, as he was reproachful of freely speaking of others' pasts, and was said to have been a very nice person.
Jiraiya had said that Minato was a shrewd person, and was not the type to do something without reason. He was also shown to be very intuitive and analytical from how quickly he could determine the strength and weakness of a person's technique. All in all, Minato was known for his unbeatable determination and unbelievable drive, which he passed onto his son. Minato's devotion to the village and his love for his friends inspired all those around him, and as such, he became well-liked by the villagers. He was nevertheless understanding of the fact that Naruto might hold some animosity for him for sealing the Nine-Tails within him.

Legacy

Minato's dying wish was for Konoha to view Naruto as a hero who had helped defeat the Nine-Tails, rather than the host of the monster that had attacked the village. However, few of the villagers would honor this request, leaving Naruto to grow up as an outcast of the village. During the course of the series, Naruto is able to change how the villagers view him for the better, but at the same time must combat the Nine-Tails sealed within him. All the while, Naruto would never know who his parents were, Hiruzen feeling it was best that the world not know who Naruto's father was.
With Minato's death, Hiruzen was forced to resume his position as Hokage, due to Minato not being able to choose his successor. He made a decree that forbade the villagers from speaking aloud that Naruto was the container of the Nine-Tails, hoping that the villagers' children would not shun him as their parents did. He otherwise tried to make Naruto's life as comfortable as he could, being one of the few people to appreciate him and putting up with his mischievous deeds.
During the sealing process, Minato split the Nine-Tails' chakra in two, giving Naruto access to the Yang chakra and permanently cutting off access to the Yin. He left Jiraiya a key to the seal that kept the Nine-Tails sealed within Naruto, to be used to strengthen it whenever it began to weaken. As a final safety measure, he left an imprint of himself within Naruto's subconscious that would react whenever the seal was on the verge of breaking. This imprint could watch Naruto grow up and had the one-time ability of returning the seal to its original strength.

Part 2
It was not until Pain attacked Konoha that he made an actual appearance in the story. When Naruto started to give into the temptations of power from the Nine-Tails, and was about to release the beast, the imprint Minato left behind stopped him. Although he voiced his dislike of seeing the Nine-Tails again, he pointed out that its actions had allowed him to see his son. Naruto picked up on this, and was overjoyed to finally find out who his father was. Minato tried to talk with Naruto, but the Nine-Tails kept interrupting the conversation, so they went someplace that was quiet. After the shock of finding his father, Naruto was quickly outraged at the idea that Minato would seal the Nine-Tails in his own son, and punched him in the gut. Minato apologized for having sealed the Nine-Tails in his own son and explained his reasoning for doing it, and Naruto quickly got over his rage at the thought of being the Fourth's son.
Because he had a limited amount of time to talk to Naruto, Minato briefly caught up with him, at the same time indicating that he knew Pain had killed Jiraiya. He expressed his suspicions that Pain, like the Nine-Tails years earlier, was being controlled by Madara Uchiha. He went onto suggest that, so long as the current ninja system exists, people like Pain, who were ruined by war and only went on to create new wars, will continue to exist. He restored the seal on Naruto's stomach, and encouraged Naruto to find a way to stop the vicious cycle of death and destruction, voicing his confidence in Naruto before disappearing.

Abilities

According to Jiraiya, Minato was easily one of the most gifted shinobi who ever lived. He created the Rasengan, a technique that does not rely on hand signs, but instead uses a concentration of spinning chakra in the palm, which causes immense damage to its target on contact. Minato had planned to add his own nature manipulation training to the Rasengan, making it even more powerful, but couldn't manage to combine the two prior to his premature death. He had a keen knowledge of fuinjitsu , and was one of the few people capable of getting Gamabunta to work with him.

It is unknown exactly how strong Minato was in combat. Flee-on-sight orders were given to enemy shinobi during the Third Great Shinobi World War in case he ever appeared on the battlefield. This stemmed from his Flying Thunder God Technique, which essentially allowed him to teleport to any location with the use of a special seal. By throwing kunai that had the seal attached to them behind enemy lines, Minato could wipe out an entire platoon in the blink of an eye without receiving a scratch. This earned him the nickname of Konoha's Yellow Flash, because of the speed at which Minato (with his yellow hair) moved when using this jutsu, even without which he showed seemingly untraceable raw speed.

Past Speculation's

Before it was revealed true, many fans speculated that Minato was Naruto's father, mostly because of their nearly identical physique and looks. The two characters also have the same blood type and technique styles. Throughout the course of the series, the characters who knew Minato had also given references to him when talking about Naruto. However, until it was revealed in Chapter 367, information about Naruto's family relations had been carefully avoided.
Before Pain (specifically the Deva Path) was revealed, some speculated that Minato was the leader of Akatsuki , because their silhouettes were similar, and Pain had some knowledge of Konoha. This theory was propagated by a fan-made manga collage, where the Akatsuki leader revealed himself as Minato.

In scenes where the Toadsummoning contract is present, the names of the most recent characters to sign the contract are shown. Although the names are indecipherable, some fans insisted that, in the column where the Fourth Hokage's name was supposedly written, "Arashi Uzumaki" was given.

Inspired by Maito Gai, Lee constantly trained to prove that he could be an excellent ninja. His drive almost cost him his life, but he was able to recover and continue to advance his skills. After becoming a Chunin, he has yet to feature much in the series. Rock Lee is a determined ninja who seeks to overcome those called "genius" through sheer hard work. Characterized by his green jumpsuit and his admiration for his teacher and mentor Maito Gai, Rock Lee is a character known for his determination and fiery personality. Lee was picked on at the Ninja Academy because of his lack of talent with Ninjutsu and Genjutsu. This forced him to devote his time into honing his Taijutsu skills. His ability to use Taijutsu allowed him to graduate from the Ninja Academy at the age of 12. After graduation Lee was placed on a team with TenTen and Hyuga Neji under Maito Gai. Lee would form a close relationship with his teammates and set his goal to defeat the "genius" Neji in battle. Early on when Lee and Neji sparred, Neji would always be the victor. Neji would attribute their difference in skill with his being a genius and Lee being a hopeless no talent. Lee and his sensei, Gai, shared a very close bond. Gai saw himself in Lee and offered to teach Lee his Taijutsu techniques, which the young man eagerly accepted. Gai taught Lee the idea of a "self-rule" to push oneself beyond their limits. This often took the form of boldly declaring how many of a particular exercise one would do, if that number wasn't met due to exhaustion, they had to do a large number of yet another strenuous exercise. Lee began to idolize Gai and changed his hairstyle and clothing to resemble his sensei. He would memorize every lesson, writing them in his notebook. Gai would help him realize his goal as a ninja, to show the world that he could be a great ninja without the ability to use of Ninjutsu or Genjutsu. His Taijutsu would also be helped by Gai teaching him how to open his celestial gates, the valves which regulate the flow of chakra. By opening these gates Lee gained more power, however with each gate opened Lee's life is put at risk. Lee has been able to open five of these gates. Lee was the only one on his team to be able to use the Omote Renge (Initial Lotus) through opening the first gate. Opening the third gate gave him the ability to use Ura Renge, which gave rise to Lee's "Konoha's lotus blooms twice" motto. Kakashi regarded Lee's ability to open five gates with amazement, as Lee was achieving more with his body than mere hard work alone should grant him. Over the following year he and his team would take on several missions. Early on Lee faired poorly during the assignments, but with his tutelage under Gai, he learned Gai's Renge techniques and became highly skilled in Taijutsu. This all thanks to his determination to prove himself, which Gai stated made Lee a "genius of hard work." A year after graduating Gai entered his team into the Chunin Exam. By this point the three Genin worked well together and were eager to prove their skills against the rest of the competition. Before the exam Lee was attempting to enter the test room but he was stopped by two Genin, really two Chunin examiners. Though it seemed as if he was being pushed around, he revealed his true speed when he stopped Sasuke and one of the examiners from getting into a fight. Lee's team chided him for not playing the part of the dumb Genin and he apologized. Lee then took notice of Sasuke's teammate Haruno Sakura. His instant infatuation was unfortunately one-sided, as Sakura was appalled by Lee's "bushy-brows". Lee said his feelings were serious, that he would protect her until he died. She dismissed him though as lame, much to Lee's sadness. After Lee saw Sasuke's display of his speed he was eager to test himself against the "genius" Uchiha. He followed Sasuke's team and challenged him to a fight. He also reiterated his love for Sakura, much to her anger. A jealous Naruto charged wanting to prove himself but Lee easily swept him aside. Lee then moved against Sasuke. Lee was able to handle Sasuke with his superior speed. Sasuke’s Sharingan was shown a major flaw. Lee explained that even if Sasuke could see his movements, if his body could not keep up with the superior speed, then there really wasn’t much advantage in seeing the movements. Lee moved to use one of his secret techniques, but he was stopped by Gai's turtle summon and Gai himself. Gai slugged Lee but recognized the youth's fiery passion with a tearful embrace. Lee would return to the exam and his team would breeze past the opening test and then proceed to the next test. During this time Lee split off from the group and come to the aid of Sakura and her teammates. Honoring his pledge to always protect her, Lee decided to take on the three Sound Genin by himself. Unfortunately being forced to protect three other injured ninja and also not knowing the abilities of the Sound Genin put him at a disadvantage. Lee knew that he might be forced to use Omote Renge, which Gai had stated required only be used to protect someone precious to him, Sakura was such a person. To that end Lee attempted to go all out and use Omote Renge against Dosu Kinuta. Kicking him into the air he prepared to bring him crashing back to the earth. Unfortunately Zaku Abumi quickly moved to nullify the move by injecting an air cushion into the ground. Dosu then used his sound attacks to damage Lee's hearing and equilibrium, making him vulnerable. Thankfully Neji and TenTen had gone in search for him. Various Genin groups converged on the battle to help Sakura's team including Neji and TenTen. Before Neji had to step in to dissuade them, the newly curse sealed Sasuke rose and sent then running. The injured Lee was passed off to TenTen for treatment. Showing her squads more physical approach she violently shook the young man to reawaken him. Lee could not believe he failed where Sasuke succeeded. When Naruto went to greet "bushy-brows" Sakura slugged him for insulting Lee and gave him her deep thanks. Lee's squad then took their leave and obtained their needed scroll, passing on the next portion of the exam. In the third test prelims, Lee eagerly watched the other matches, providing commentary and encouragement for his team. As time wore on Lee stated he no longer wanted to fight, which resulted in him finally being selected, much to his satisfaction. He explained it was simple reverse psychology. Lee's opponent was Gaara from Hidden Sand. The two men sized each other up and Lee quickly moved to strike Gaara. His opponent stood his ground though, letting his automatic sand protection deflect all the strikes. Lee soon retreated and looking to his sensei he saw his approval to remove his training weights, which were hidden under his leggings. Lee stated he was told to remove them only to protect someone precious but Gai said it was okay. The on looking crowd expressed confusion over how removal of some weights would change Lee's speed, they soon learned they were heavier than they appeared, crushing the ground when they were dropped. Lee then disappeared in the blink of an eye, launching kicks and strikes from every direction. His speed proved too much for the sand and he landed a direct hit on Gaara. As time wore on Lee's technique began to grow less and less effective, forcing Lee to use his special techniques. He attempted his Omote Renge on Gaara, however Gaara's weight was more than Lee expected, forcing him to launch multiple kicks against Gaara to give him the needed height. When he finally reached the apex he winced and wrapped Gaara up, and then brought him spinning back to implant in the floor. Gaara remained motionless and to Lee's surprise crumbled, revealing he had replaced himself with a sand replica when Lee winced. Lee was weakened from Renge's side-effects and Gaara went on the offensive. Lee thought back over how Gai believed in him and seeing his sensei look down on him with approval Lee was revitalized. He then began opening celestial gates to meet his way of the ninja, unleashing a torrent of strength and power to everyone's shock. Unfortunately such power comes at great risk to the user’s life. Lee began to move at blinding speed, pummeling Gaara throughout the air. However because of the strain his muscles began to tear. By unleashing his final Ura Renge attack, Lee smashed Gaara into the ground. Unfortunately Gaara's gourd gave way, dampening the impact on the ground. Lee fell to the ground weak and injured. Gaara himself was not quite finished though; raising his arms he grasped Lee's leg and arm with his sand. Though Lee tried to hobble away, the sand constricted, crushing his bones. When Gaara moved to crush Lee again, Gai stepped in to protect his precious student. Gaara was declared the victor and everyone was surprised to see Lee rise to continue the fight. Amazingly Lee was standing but he was actually unconsciousness; his drive to protect his way of the ninja made him stand. Medical ninja rushed to check Lee and made a horrifying discovery. His injuries were so severe from the gate usage and sand crushing that he had no chance for a full recovery, ending his ability to be a ninja. Lee was thereafter taken to the hospital for recuperation. While sleeping in his hospital bed, Gaara came to finish him off. Creeping into his room he was stopped by Shikamaru and Naruto. When Gaara began to lose it Gai arrived and told them to cut it out, that they could get their chance to fight in the third test. During his time in the hospital Lee would continue his training, though his body would falter him. Even when he was told to rest, Lee would sneak out to do his strenuous exercises. When the third Chunin test was held Gai and Lee went to watch the matches. Lee reacted in surprise when he found out Naruto had beat Neji, but he sincerely felt happy that Naruto had beat the "genius". Lee would also be surprised when Sasuke revealed he had copied many of Lee's moves, attaining close to his own weighted speed. Lee would then be among those knocked out by Kabuto's Genjutsu when Sand and Sound launched their invasion. When the legendary medical ninja Tsunade returned the Leaf village to become Hokage, she examined Lee. She agreed that his time as a ninja was over. There were numerous bone fragments lodged within his spine and only she could perform the surgery which might allow him to continue being a ninja. The procedure was very high risk, with a chance of success of only 50%. And even if successful, Lee would have to go through extensive rehabilitation. Lee spoke with Gai about it and his mentor stated that Lee should undertake the surgery. And if Lee died during the procedure, he would as well, for he had made a self promise to train Lee to become a good ninja. And if that failed, his life was void. Lee decided to pull it all in Tsunade's hands, risking it all to regain his path as a ninja. Lee would see off his comrades when they set out to retrieve Sasuke from Hidden Sound and then head in for his surgery. The surgery was performed and Lee remained in the hospital to recover. His drive to help his friends though caused him to act rashly once again. Gathering up his weapons and the "medicine" he thought was left by Tsunade; he snuck out of the hospital and raced north towards his comrades. Using his speed and quickness he managed to catch up to Naruto who was in battle with Hidden Sound member Kimimaro. Lee told Naruto to go on ahead after Sasuke while he alone would face Kimimaro and his strange bone techniques. Coming at Kimimaro from all sides he was unable to get a solid hit on his opponent. Lee then asked for a moment of pause, and ingested the "medicine" left by Tsunade. Unfortunately Lee had grabbed Tsunade's sake bottle rather than his medicine. Back in Konoha the mistake was discovered by Tsunade and Gai. Gai revealed that in the past Lee had drank some of his alcohol, causing him to get into a quick drunken stupor. Gai told Tsunade that Lee is natural Suiken (Drunken Fist) user. Lee began to sway and fall, preventing any reliable prediction of attack. Lee and Kimimaro exchanged attacks but his opponent began to get the upper hand once again. Moving to use his Omote Renge he was once again blocked by bones. When Kimimaro moved in for the kill Lee himself was saved by yet another new entry to the battle, Gaara. Gaara stated he and his siblings had been sent by Tsunade to help the Leaf squad retrieve Sasuke. Gaara was emotionless but it was clear he wanted to make up for his past transgressions against Lee. Ever since Gaara had lost to Naruto in battle, he had changed his outlook on life. Protecting Lee, Gaara took the offensive against Kimimaro, unleashing wave after wave of Sand attack. Kimimaro was eventually forced to use his ultimate technique, causing a field of bones to rise from his body. Unfortunately due to his failing health this proved his end. With their opponent defeated Lee and Gaara rested and talked over the nature of loneliness. As the years passed Lee and his team eventually passed the Chunin Exam. Lee himself would don a flak jacket, drawing his appearance even closer to that of his idol Gai. When a request came in from Hidden Sand to help rescue their Kazekage Gaara from Akatsuki, Gai and his team were sent to help. The team raced to Hidden Sand but was stopped by Hoshigaki Kisame. Kisame avoided most of their attacks and got the drop on the team and imprisoned Lee, Neji and TenTen in water prisons. Neji broke them free and Gai managed to eventually defeat their opponent. The team then proceeded on to Akatsuki's base. When they removed the seal guarding the cave, they were faced with doppelgangers that emerged from the earth itself. The copies used their same exact weapons and abilities. The team managed to eventually defeat the guardians and assist Naruto and Kakashi, who were chasing Akatsuki member Deidara. Lee's team stopped Deidara escape. Neji soon saw that Deidara planned to blow himself up. Hatake Kakashi had enough time though to send Deidara to another location using his Mangekyou Sharingan. With Deidara stopped, elder Sand Kunoichi Chiyo was able to revive Gaara. They returned to Sand, then wished their comrades goodbye. Gai moved to carry the weakened Kakashi on his back on the return trip. Their appearance inspired Lee, who saw it as training. Offering Neji the opportunity to be carried on Lee's back, Neji refused, much to Lee's disappointment. The Leaf ninja then finally set out for Konoha.

Pain's history revealed he once Jiraya's apprentice Nagato, who lost his friends to war. He grew to believe the only way to stop war was to shock the world into passivity through utter destruction. After Naruto destroyed most of Nagato's Rikudou Pain bodies, he spoke with the young man and was moved to put his faith in Naruto's ability to change the ninja world. He then sacrificed his life to bring back the villagers he killed in the hope of bringing about a better world. His actions allowed him to help fulfill the prophecy of Jiraiya's apprentices changing the ninja world. Pain was once a young man named Nagato. During his youth in the war torn Rain Country, Nagato lived with his family. When two Leaf ninja came into their home looking for food, things spun out of control and his parents were killed. Newly orphaned, he met fellow orphans Konan and Yahiko. Nagato was a quiet child who admired Yahiko's desire to improve their living conditions and bring some justice to the world, even if it meant becoming its god. The trio met the Sannin following the war with Hidden Rain. Jiraya took a liking to the children and stayed behind to look after them. He was surprised to learn that the emotional and quiet Nagato was a wielder of the Rinnegan, the venerated Doujutsu once possessed by Rikudou Sennin, the man regarded as the original modern Shinobi. Nagato and Yahiko were accosted by a vagrant Rock Ninja, and Yahiko moved to defend them. He was injured and Nagato went into a berserk rage, quickly killing the ninja. Nagato was shocked when he finally regained control and Jiraya promised to train the orphans. Nagato had trouble dealing with the way he reacted to the Rock ninja and Jiraya explained that he shouldn't feel ashamed, as he was defending his friend. And that knowing what it feels like to be hurt is the reason why humans are kind to others. Nagato wondered how he could become like that and Jiraya explained it just came with age. Nagato then promised to keep his friends safe, no matter what pain he had to experience. Jiraya was inspired by the young man, and based his new book character on Nagato's never give up attitude. Three years passed and the trio were soon skilled enough to defeat one of Jiraiya's Kage Bunshin. Jiraya explained that his time with them had ended and that hard times would still be ahead for them. But by working together they could change things, as they had finally grown up. He left his finished book for the group, which Nagato found and read. Over the following years the trio formed a group of like minded individuals under Yahiko's leadership. To that end, they hoped to broker a peace between the warring countries. Responding to a summons from Sanshouuo no Hanzou, the leader of Hidden Rain, the group was ambushed by Hanzou and ANBU Root under Danzou. Taking Konan hostage, Hanzou demanded Nagato kill Yahiko. Unable to stab his friend with the kunai in his hand, Yahiko forced his comrade to do it, ending his life. Yahiko told Nagato and Konan to stay alive and offered that Nagato could change the world. That event acted as the second pain trauma in Nagato's life after his parent's death, causing the young man to believe that his answer to the world's problems was worthless. Hanzou then ordered his men to kill Nagato. He avoided their attacks and managed to free Konan at the cost of damaging his legs. Filled with rage he called forth a gigantic blinded statue which extended black chakra rods into Nagato's back. As Nagato begame to become emaciated, spectral dragons emerged which flew throught he surrounding ninja to steal their souls. Hanzou fled, leaving Nagato a withered shadow of his former self. Nagato ended his ties to Hidden Rain and took on the name of "Pain". Konan would also join him. As Pain, Nagato began to gather other disenfranchised Rain Shinobi and start a civil war with Hidden Rain. No longer believing that the cycle of hatred could stop, he sought more drastic means to end it through violence. Seeking some revenge for Yahiko's death, he fought Hanzou once again and killed him in battle. He did not stop with merely Hanzou though, for he killed Hanzou's family, friends and associates; essentially taking down Hidden Rain all by himself. And though Pain had followers, they never saw him personally. His abilities, appearance and heartless nature thus fueled rumors about his identity. This also caused his followers to revere him as a god. In this position he operated out of the tallest tower in the Rain Country industrial city. It was from this tower he maintained a room which hid his greatest secret. Through the development of his Rinnegan, he gained the ability to control all Six Paths. Using the black chakra rods still implanted in his back from the time he first fought Hanzou, he discovered how to manipulate the bodies of corpses. Some years later Pain became part of the Akatsuki organization. Konan joined as well, and was one of the few living persons aware of Pain's past. Over the years she had seen him fight many battles and believed that he had never once lost in battle. She and his followers were also aware of his ability to control the rain around them. This he apparently did on schedule, so when rain fell on other days, his followers knew something was on his mind. Pain could also use this water to detect the chakra of opponents and feel their presence. As leader of Akatsuki, Pain was adamant that the group could fulfill their desires if they possessed the bijuu. He used many skills to help further the goals of the group. One Jutsu was a Shouten technique, which allowed the group members to take over the sacrificed body of another in exchange for some measure of their chakra. He also was responsible for summoning the huge King of Hell statue which held the bijuu withdrawn from Jinchuuriki. Pain told the group their ultimate goal was to control the world, which could be accomplished through three steps: Step One is for the group to attain money. Step Two is to create the first mercenary group. Shinobi villages make money for their country, and for the money to be steady it requires war. Because there have not been any large scale wars in awhile, the ninja villages were being reduced in size. The Five Great Shinobi Villages could handle the downtrend, but the smaller villages could not. Akatsuki would form their own fighting force with no country allegiance. This force could undercut all the other villages and fight their battles for cheap. Then using the bijuu they could create new wars and gain a monopoly over the whole market. In the end they would control all the wars and be powerful enough to even collapse the Shinobi villages of the large countries, forcing them to rely on Akatsuki as well. With all that in hand, the group can achieve Step Three, to control the world. This stated goal may actually be a smokescreen, however, as Pain was seen reporting to new Akatsuki recruit Tobi in secret. Tobi directed Pain to capture Naruto personally in his role as leader, which apparently drew out an emotional response from Pain in the form of rain. It was then revealed that Tobi was in fact the long thought dead Uchiha Madara, a legendary Shinobi like Rikudou Sennin. While Pain was making preparations to capture Naruto, he was alerted to the arrival of his former sensei Jiraya in Hidden Rain. Pain went into his secret hideout, which housed the bodies of five other cloaked figures. As one Pain moved to rest, another rose from his slumber. This hidden ability of Rinnegan to share multiple bodies with one consciousness would prove decisive in his upcoming battle. Leaving behind the body he used in the series up to this point, Pain selected a body skilled in summoning. As he appeared before Jiraya, his former teacher learned that the young boy he once knew as Nagato was now the completely different looking ninja before him. Pain explained how the past mattered little, but that Yahiko was now dead and that the pain of all the people who died there helped him grow as a person. It was this very pain that allowed him to grown from a mere person into a god. And as a god, he would put an end to wars through the creation of the ultimate Kinjutsu. A Jutsu fueled by the power of the Bijuu, one strong enough to wipe one of the Five Great Shinobi Countries off the map. This Jutsu would be offered to anyone, and through mutually assured destruction and the pain that follows such slaughter, mankind would be afraid to cause war again in the future and peace could finally be achieved. The battle continued and what followed was a barrage of summoned animal attacks, with Jiraiya summoning a toad to help him battle the various beasts Pain called to his aid. Pain eventually summoned a giant chameleon which he used to blend into the surroundings and disappear. Jiraiya responded by calling upon two elder Toad Sennin to assist. It was then revealed that Pain could possibly be the "destined" child, a student of Jiraiya's prophesized to bring peace or ultimate destruction to the world. The Sennin managed to take out the Chameleon and force Pain to show himself once again. Standing before the Sennin, Pain moved to summon yet again. This time two other Rinnegan users were called to his side. For the first time another deadly power of the Rinnegan was revealed, Pain's ability to operate multiple bodies at once and share the sensory information between them. These two new bodies each had their own specialties and skills. The battle began and one of the Pains moved to use Taijutsu against Jiraiya; which he countered with a kick to the face, blinding the attacker. Another body used an absorption technique to dissipate any incoming chakra or elemental attack. Seeing his foe have the upper hand, Jiraiya fled to nearby pipes. Pain gave chase but fell into a well placed Genjutsu trap by Jiraiya and the toads. Unable to use his Rinnegan to counter, Jiraiya captured the three men and immobilized them. Jiraiya offered that he was sad Nagato had led his life astray. He then finished them off by impaling them into the ground. While thinking over his victory Jiraiya was suddenly blasted away through the nearby city. Three more Rinnegan users had arrived, one of which removed the impaling swords from his fallen comrades. This individual apparently revived the slain bodies and soon six Rinnegan users stood before the severely injured Jiraiya. Among the group was Pain's initial body, which Jiraiya quickly recognized was an adult Yahiko. Jiraiya tried to grasp why the man Nagato claimed was dead was among the group before him. Pain acknowledged Yahiko's death, but said the man before him was Pain, they all were. Together they were Pain Rikudou, and as such, were a god. The six men forced Jiraiya to retreat into the stomach of a summoned toad. The summoning Pain managed to infiltrate the barrier and stab Jiraiya with his chakra disruption spear. The maneuver cost him his life and Jiraiya finally noticed that the Pain before him was a man he had fought years before. Unable to figure out what that meant, Jiraiya risked his life to leave the barrier and confront Pain once again. He quickly saw that all the Pains before him were ninja he had met in the past from all over the world. In that instant he realized Pain's true identity. Pain quickly moved to silence Jiraiya and the men all stabbed their former teacher, killing him. As they moved to leave they watched in surprise as Jiraiya willed himself back to life, to leave one final message with the remaining Toad Sennin, that of Pain's true identity. One Pain fired off his arm to stop the message but the toad escaped in time. Jiraiya himself succeeded in his mission and disappeared into the nearby depths of murky water. The Yahiko Pain then used his Suiton abilities to sense the dying Jiraiya's escape. Zetsu then arrived and offered his thoughts on the battle. The previously unbeaten Pain then offered that it was only by keeping his secret that he was allowed victory that day. With the knowledge of his true nature escaping with one of the Toad Sennin, Pain's days may be numbered. Sometime later Konoha received Jiraiya's coded message along with the frog containing his Fuuma Clan body. This body was taken for autopsy by Shizune to help learn its secrets. Jiraiya's code was given to the Konoha Code Breakers and Shikamaru. The group went to Naruto for help. He pointed out how the initial character was probably a "ta" rather than a number 9. This lead to the group pulling the first words on certain pages in Icha Icha Tactics that corresponded to the numbers in Jiraiya's code. When brought together the code stated that "the real one isn't with them". Possibly hinting that the real Pain does not travel with the Rikudou bodies. Since he lost the use of the Fuuma body, Pain revealed a new member to his group, a pierced kunoichi. With his Rikudou army now six strong, Pain and Konan finally set out to hunt for the Kyuubi in Konoha. Upon reaching the outer wall of Konoha, Pain Rikudou and Konan took on their assignments. The Asura, Animal and Hungry Ghost Realm bodies would act as diversions, while Konan and the Deva, Human and Hell realms acted as reconnaissance to hunt for Naruto. Seeking to hide their numbers, Asura hurled Animal through the barrier protecting the village. Once inside, she summoned the rest of the group. The group then split to begin their attack. Asura removed his forearm to launch missile attacks and Animal summoned a giant centipede. Human found a Leaf ninja and interrogated him as to the Kyuubi's whereabouts. The man did not know Naruto's location so Human removed the man's soul and continued on.

I don't know much about Suigetsu. But this is what I have been writing about him so far:

Suigetsu Hozuki, a former test subject of Orochimaru, is the first character to be recruited for Taka. Not afraid to speak his mind and always doing as he pleases, Suigetsu clashed with Sasuke at first, but eventually came to accept Sasuke's position and even put himself in harm's way to protect him. Suigetsu is able to reduce himself to liquid form and return to bodily form at will. Although this gives him an easy way to avoid physical attacks, it also makes him very susceptible to electricity. In addition, upon reforming himself, Suigetsu can change the size of his limbs, proportionally increasing his strength in the process. Sometime before being introduced, Suigetsu trained to be one of Kirigakure’s Seven Swordsmen of the Mist, an organization of particularly violent swordsmen. Having been unable to become a member, Suigetsu has begun collecting all of the swords of the Seven Swordsmen for himself instead. To this end, he takes Zabuza’s Kubikiri Hōchō from its burial site, soon after joining the group, and hopes to be able to take Kisame Hoshigaki’s Samehada by working with Sasuke.

One of the strongest Kunoichi who is not a Kage, Temari is the skilled older sister of Gaara. Temari is the daughter of Yondaime Kazekage and the older sister of Kankuro and Gaara. Temari graduated from the Ninja Academy at the age of 12. At some point she bore witness to Gaara going into his full Shukaku mode, which shocked and sickened her. The village leaders began to resent the way their village was being treated by the Wind Country Daimyou. For that reason Suna planned to invade and attack Konoha with Hidden Sound. Little did they know that Sound was using Suna for their own ends, with Orochimaru killing Temari's father and then impersonating him to further draw them into war. Plans were in place for Gaara to be used in the invasion, so she and her team entered into the Chunin Exam under their sensei Baki. When they arrived in Konoha other Leaf Genin confronted them about why they were there. Temari mocked them for not realizing there was a Chunin Exam happening. She and her team took their leave and then went to the first test. The skillfully trained team easily made it past the first portion of the exam and then entered the second. Due to Gaara's Shukaku protection they breezed through this portion as well. When they sought out their scroll, Gaara took the forefront and easily killed the Rain ninja who attacked them. When Gaara's bloodlust began to get the better of him Temari pleaded with him to listen to her and calm down. He finally relented and they made it to the test finish in record time. In the third test preliminary matches of the Chunin Exam, Temari was placed against TenTen. Utilizing her wind techniques, Temari was able to totally nullify TenTen's ranged weapon attacks and utterly defeat her. Tossing the unconscious TenTen aside Rock Lee jumped to his teammate's defense. He moved to attack Temari after she insulted TenTen's abilities, but Maito Gai stepped in to stop him from fighting before his time came. She and her siblings each won their preliminary match and they began their month long wait for the third and final test. In the third test Temari was placed against Nara Shikamaru. Shikamaru expressed his discontent with having to fight a woman and Temari took it personally. Both ninja were skilled strategists and the match went back and forth as each fighter felt the other out. Temari launched numerous slicing wind gusts and while Shikamaru hid from the shadows attempting to bind her with his shadow. Shikamaru's intellect won out in the end, as he used his shadow to maneuver Temari into position to capture and bind her. Though she thought she was going to lose, Shikamaru gave up because he was almost out of chakra. When the invasion was finally launched, Temari and Kankuro moved to escort the wounded Gaara outside the village to allow him to transform. On the way Sasuke gave chase and Temari stayed behind to delay him. She quickly caught back up with Gaara and watched as he rampaged in his Shukaku form. To her surprise though, he was fought evenly by Uzumaki Naruto, who had summoned Gamabunta to help him. Naruto's strong will to protect his friends won out though, and Gaara was defeated. Coming to her exhausted brothers aid, Temari and Kankuro fled. With Gaara's and Orochimaru's defeat the invasion failed and Suna retreated. In the following weeks Suna would bow to Konoha's terms and once again become their ally. This help would soon be needed when Uchiha Sasuke left Konoha to seek out power under Orochimaru. Tsunade dispatched a Genin team led by Shikamaru to retrieve Sasuke and also contacted Suna for help. With the Leaf in trouble with the Four Sounds, Temari and her siblings arrived and she chose to assist Shikamaru. She asked for information on her opponent Tayuya and when Shikamaru suggested retreat she said shouldn't be underestimated. Wiping blood on her fan she summoned Kamatari the weasel and scythes which cut down the forest and Tayuya. Shikamaru felt Temari was even scarier than his own mother and she gave an embarrassed grin back, stating she may have overdid it. While the Konoha ninja were saved from death, they failed to return Sasuke. The Sand siblings returned to Konoha with the injured ninja from Konoha. At the hospital Shikamaru expressed his fears for his friends and Temari chided him for his frailties. They soon took their leave and Temari told Shikamaru they'd be there if they needed help again. Shikamaru grinned and continued his bemused comments about women. A shortwhile later in an anime filler arc, Shikamaru got his chance to pay Suna back, coming to the aid of Temari when ninja abducted an academy trainee from their village. In the following years Temari passed the Chunin Exam and advanced in rank to Jonin. During this time she began serving as a liaison to Leaf to help plan the Chunin Exams with fellow examiner Shikamaru. When she learned that her younger brother Gaara had been captured by Akatsuki, she quickly returned home to lend help. She arrived too late and remained behind to guard her village when Naruto and his team began to track down Gaara's abductors. When Kankuro was sufficiently recuperated, she and he alongside numerous other Sand ninja raced to help Gaara. They arrived in time to see Chiyo bring him back to life. She was greatly relieved and later wished the Leaf ninja goodbye when they left Hidden Sand.
