The Abrahamic God told his followers in the Old Testament to slaughter people. Christianity is supposed to be so peaceful, but the God that is followed has a pretty violent career before that.

Actually you are wrong in some aspects. The campaigns (even the crusades) you speak of, are a case where a secular goal is achieved by clinging to religion.

Modern Christianity wasn't shaped by Rome, modern catholicism was. The Protestant reformation, a good number of new denominations arose out of the simple fact that they realized the bible and the pope contradicted eachother.

And trust me. Stalin is said to have killed approximately 20 million people. Hitler killed 14 million. That's not including soldiers.

I have to say we should probably end our religion questions, I may have some concern about this topic but we should just let people believe in what they wish to believe. This does help many viewer and myself experience more about belief but this will never end to a conclusion. In less there are exact evidence to this.
