@Boxhead Yeah I know how you feel but keep watching you have to muscle through until the Fighting Festival Arc. Once Laxus and Gildarts get in the mix the show gets interesting. I found myself skipping around early on in the show's history just because so much of it was either talking and emotions or just very childish. Part of this is the show's nature the other part is it being the anime instead of the somewhat more serious manga.

If you saw the Phantom Lord Arc you saw the series's potential. Makarov's power, Laxus's attitude, Natsu vs. Gajeel all were amazing to me. The Tower of Heaven Arc is just meh to me but that's cause I never really liked Jellal and you will see that Mashima seems almost obsessed with the guy early in the series. The final fight of this arc is gonna be cool though and Erza's fights aren't half bad either.

My recommendation. If you aren't feeling an episode read through the plot summary and move on through the arc.

The ones I felt were meh and did this for...
Deliora Arc, Tower of Heaven Arc, Edolas Arc

The ones that are epic and should be watched all the way through...
Phantom Lord Arc, Fighting Festival Arc, Tenrou Island Arc

I didn't really feel one way or the other about the Oracion Seis Arc. Natsu's fights were cool and Jura's were ok. Gray and Lyon's fight is probably the best one except for the final battle. But I hated all the Blue Pegasus characters.

Tenrou Island is where the series really picks up you ride that high through to the Grand Magic Games and Fairy Tail will easily become on of your favorite mangas/animes. I liked it more than Naruto for a long stretch but with this whole Hashirama flashback Kishi is showing us Naruto's former glory and I think he's played his last 5 chapters better than Fairy Tail has.
