Oh, I agree. It was entertaining watching the four hokages, but unfortunately the ET aspect in general has put Kishi in a bit over his head. He doesn't really know how to resolve many of their individual situations in a satisfactory manner. None of them should have been stoppable without a seal. Does it occur to anyone that Obito should have been able to destroy the entire Shinobi Alliance by now, since he had originally planned to defeat them without ET support? Why are villains always so terrible at world domination? This is why we can't have nice things.

Well, Tobi did summon the Juubi. I assume he would run away and get Sasuke to help control it?

Thing is Tobi=Madara was the most sensible conclusion given how
Tobi had the power to control nine tails and all that jazz.
While many people outside the manga were able to figure out
it was Obito right from the start (of which wasn't me.)
there was pretty nobody In-Universe who could have guessed
Tobi=Obito. The closest I thinkwas Yahiko who at least knew
Tobi was a fake Madara. Given the fact that Madara was
still alive after Obito "died" shows that Tobi being Madara
was a plausible theory---just a not true one. Obito on the
other hand, who would guess he gain such power?
It was a implausible theory that just so happened to be true.

Which is still pretty lame, since Sasuke came into the plan extremely late as a possible asset. Also, there's really no good reason to trust him, even with his hatred of the village, since what Obito actually wants is insane. I get the feeling even Obito knows this, since his only actual living ally was Zetsu. Honestly, Obito seems like a schmuck. The only smart villain in this whole manga is Oro, and even he failed to plant a sufficient trap in Sasuke's body. Obviously a curse mark wasn't enough. Incidentally, does it strike anyone else as strange that Anko and Sasuke were allowed to remain an active shinobi while hosting Oro's curse mark?

I guess but they also thought Madara was dead and never would have guessed Tobi was Madara.

Actually, that's even worse, because Madara would then be mortal and thus have access to limited chakra reserves -- without the backing of other ETs. It would then be the clone army plus idiot Obito, plus flesh-and-blood Madara -- against the entire shinobi/samurai world. A recipe for disaster.

That wasn't a problem for Pain to take out an entire village.

Madara beat all the Kage without even trying. Whether he is a live or not hardly matters for him.

That was a surprise attack on one village, not an aware army; Plan A would still have provoked the formation of the Alliance, even had Naruto been defeated, which is why just having Nagato around wouldn't work. In any event, a living Madara would not have soloed the five kages as easily, if at all. Had he gotten hit by Oonoki's dust release while alive like he did as an ET, he'd be toast, not to mention that he probably wouldn't have enough chakra. He won mostly because he was undead. Also, do we even know if Nagato would have been able to revive him at his physical peak, as Kabuto did? Certainly rinnei tensei previously brought the dead back as they had been at their death -- not younger or older.

Pain is much weaker than Madara.
But Tobi would not have to reveal himself. He need only take out Naruto and KB.

Given that is what he was doing the whole time and the villages didn't seem to care, it should have worked.

The problem is Tobi didn't consider the power of TALK NO JUTSU

Madara didn't even try against the Kages and Onoki Dust is way too slow.
