True it is sad. However if they didnt kill him he'd probably cause more trouble when he's older, assuming he gets to be older. I disagree with sending children to war. Training them at a young age is fine but kids arent meant to go through traumatic events in war.

This chapter brought more questions than ever. I hope that in the next 2 chapters the flashbacks end and we get to see Sasuke's reaction to what Hashirama said.

It's gonna be interesting seeing the true story behind the evilness of Madara.

I wonder about Itama, is there a tiny bit of him related to Zetsu? I might be over thinking it but, the White/Black hair to Zetsu's Black?White persona is just symbolic to one another.
Then again Zetsu's Black/White persona reflects the differences of Madara and Hashirama nature's.

this chapter was extremely predictable after how the last one ended. knew it would be a flashback of their childhood but was hoping they'd at least squeeze some current timeline stuff in. next week will be more flashbacks too i guess. /sigh

I enjoyed this chapter. Seems shinobi only used to live until about 30

I'm wondering how many generations there were between SoSP and Harishima.

Last week I was dissappointed that we were jumping back to when they were kids, but after reading this chapter I thought it was handled pretty well.

I loved the way Hashi kept trolling Madara at the begining. Definetly makes his personality a bit more distinct rather than just being the Naruto of another generation.

The real core of the chapter for me though was the way Hashirama stood up to his father when he started spouting off about the old shinobi philosophies. Having Hashi call the old man out on his BS excuses was well done and you can definetly see the wheels turning on the birth of the shinobi villages.

It all reminded me of how at the end of the Zabuza arc Naruto took a long deep look at the ninja world for the first time, called BS, and vowed to make his own ninja way.

Sadly with the young ages of Hashi and Madara right now, I think any attempt they make at an alliance at this stage in their lives will utterly backfire (probably resulting in the deaths of at least one of their parents). The whole bit of hiding your full name to avoid retaliation will probably come into play and make the fighting even worse.

That's what war is. I had a friend who was forced to kill a kid in Iraq because he was firing an AK-47 at him and his men. They were in an APC with five other guys, but deadly is deadly. You don't leave an enemy at your six with a machine gun, and he wouldn't surrender. So he disappeared him.

It was the only reasonable part of the chapter, sadly. The idea that two enemy combatants are wandering around by a river and become "friends" is the absurd part. Especially since the Senju and Uchiha had apparently been at war for generations. As if Madara isn't obviously an Uchiha. Nobody else has hair like that...
