LOL The WWE is just the Power Rangers for adults. It's what would happen if stuntmen decided to abuse steroids and start an acting career.

is wrestling fake? Jesus christ..Fire Shadow yes it is, it's scripted its choreographed and timed..but the moves are real and a lot of time the heat back stage is legit- the injuries are a lot of times legit
and when wrestlers shoot on each other.. or when they break script or what have you that's when it gets really real in any case the PG era is a lot less real than the attitude era when the E was heavily influenced by ECW which was..more or less shoot wrestling \ John Cenas push and stardom reminds me a lot of NWO era Hogan..forced and frustrating oh and we need more smarks on the forum

Yeah, it's fake. I once saw the miz avoid a metal bar after running into it.

Brett hart having to stay in character and wrestle for twenty minutes with all his ribs broken and free floating
Mick foley accidentally falling through the steel cage a second time at king of the ring 96 the impact literally blowing one of his molars through his sinus cavity into his nostril and wrestling for a full half hour in a match where he was smashed.onto thumb tacks and the like One of the LOD members animal I think it was having an eyeball popped out then the doctor pushing it back in did it.too fast and his sinus's literally ruptured and the next day him having to stat in character and bench six hundred pounds with all the pressure leaving him in agony Rick Flair breaking his back in a plane crash with a wrestler he was fueding with at the time- because admitting he was the plane with.an enemy would break keyfabe he lied about it in the papers.and wrestled a fifty minute main event the day after being in a god damb plane crash and with a broken back Big Van Vader punching stan hanson in the face so hard hansons eye popped out then him pushing it back in and wrestling for twenty minutes Vader close lining Foley in Japan him getting wrapped in the ropes and losing an ear- then being set on fire Brock Lesnar wrestling for half an hour with kurt angel despite a.massive concusion- angle himself needing neck surgery to repair a broken neck and having convulsions of agony before the match Stone Cold and Shawn Micheals wrestling with broken necks and backs in one of the greatest matches ever Essentially any one who calls these wrestlers fake and not tough are idiots who have no idea what pro wrestling is and what it used to be in the old days

It's scripted and they don't actually strike each other most of the time but there's nothing fake about the throws, slams and holds (Ok, some of the holds aren't as painful as they make it out to be but many of them do hurt, alot.)
These guys and girls are technically the only athletes on the planet who's sport isn't technically a sport. But make no mistake, they are athletes and doing this stuff takes years of training and hard work to do safely without seriously injuring someone. They also perform more often than any other athletes on the planet, performing sometimes up to five or six times a week, not including training and conditioning. Most athletes perform once, maybe twice a week. So these guys get very little time to recover and rest before they're back out there getting banged up again the next night.

Japanese legend Mitsuaru Misawa died in the ring in 2009 during a match after taking a backdrop, while the official cause of death has not been made public due to the wishes of Misawa's family, it's rumored it was due to a massive heart attack and his lagging neck injuries, as the man over his career had taken some sick headdrop bumps Darren Drozdov ended up paralyzed after being on the wrong end of a botched move Eji Ezaki had to retire and was seriously injured and on a wheelchair for years due to having slipped and landing on his head trying to do a moonsault off the 2nd rope (reportedly he's fully recovered now) The chairs? guess what, they are quite real, trust me, the tables are real too, Rob Van Dam almost lost his eye once due to table debris, and Hardcore Holly had a nasty cut due to a table too, also had a even nastier cut once thanks to the steel steps Atsushi Onita, who helped pave the way for extreme hardcore wrestling (also known as deathmatches in Japan and other places), once swallowed barbed wire during a match, and got really lucky things didn't ended up worse for him Look, what you see might be fake fighting, scripted and choreographed, but it's very real, also, back in the day some of the best were also great legit amateur wrestlers, who could end up ''shooting up'' and making sure they would beat you for real To those of us that are fans, we just like it, there's an ''it'' factor to pro wrestling that boxing and MMA don't have, kinda hard to explain

thanks for the correction though the damage to Foley was real for the second bump as I think it was totally unplanned..and ouch man having a tooth blasted through your nose man There was also the Rock Foley I quit match where both guys went off script a bit..I remember there being (albeit very temporary) back stage heat between Rock and Foley for a few days/weeks because Rock thought he apologized to Foley for that when Foley did to him and apparently he hadn't and when he realized felt really bad about that something about Foley taking two or three chair shots to the head that were unplanned as to Vader what I find funny was despite how stiff and tough he was he was Jim Cornette says he was very thinned skinned emotionally- so as Hensen could punch his eye out and the show would go on (and i don't think there was heat between them) Shawn Micheals used to regularly have the guy in tears via insulting him Quote:
speaking of the pacific wrestling scene didn't one of the Somaons (I forget if it was mang or someone else) gouge out a wrestlers eye and was known for shooting on wrestlers he didn't respect? Quote:
that was by Ahmed Johnson correct? Or was it someone else? Johnson was famous for botching moves IIRC Quote:
what HSR says Chris Benoit didn't kill his family because of roids, he killed his family because the concussion he got over the long years of his career left him with the brain of a 90 with alzheimers Quote:
..yeah i'm trying to imagine the end results of passing that..ouch Quote:
Danny Hodge who was IIRC an olympic silver medalist and the Danny Hodge trophy is the highest award an amateur wrestler can receive (named after Hodge because he was undefeated or something) and From what Jim Ross says he could crush Apples into sauce, and crush pliers in his grip one handed also he was in a car accident went off the road the car crashed and sank, mans neck was broken water filling the car, Hodges response? Hold his neck in place and punch through the window and walk to shore rising out of the water like a damn terminator.. that's as real as it gets./. Quote:
the charisma, the larger than life nature of the performers and I'd wager the fact that some are truly amazing athletes Quote:
this is the mas transit incident it took place in ECW some idiot kid pretended he was over eighteen and tried to wrestle New Jack, new Jack is a wrestler famous for shooting in matches https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=maEx2RLu1UI kid lost something like twenty percent of the blood in his body https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WIzBIy3EiS4 IIRC in the above Match Brett Hart wrestles for like fifteen minutes with a wrecked sternum

Yeah, Vader ended up being a victim of Michaels' bullying so to speak in '96 lol, he wasn't the only one, but Michaels got lucky for sure hehe Indeed, it was Meng, he could kick your butt be it in the ring or out of it, was very respected backstage back in his days It was actually D'lo Brown, but indeed Johnson did botched a lot back then too Yeah, no excuse for what Benoit did, but the chair shots, all the missed headbutts from the top rope, and being very intense all the time in his matches really messed him up New Jack is also famous for being part of the Danbury Fall, and trying to kill his opponent during that match, Vic Grimes, in a later rematch, Jack broke the script, used a taser on Grimes, and threw him off trying to kill him, but Grimes got lucky, here's that incident: http://youtu.be/vwNIFpnsb7Y Dino Bravo....great wrestler, sad how he died (he was shot 17 times in his home, reportedly due to being part of cigarette smuggling) he was also very strong for real

Calling pro wrestling "fake" paints an unfair picture because it gives
the impression that it's a scam and fans don't know any better. A better way to describe it is Pro Wrestling is NOT a sport. Pro Wrestling is a SHOW. Just like almost any other show Pro Wrestling is scripted and choreographed. While wrestlers are not ACTUALLY trying to kill each other make no mistake that what they do is far from easy. Pro Wrestlers may be akin to stuntmen ballet dancers and circus performers. All of these are physically demanding. Pro Wrestlers have to stay in top shape for two reasons: 1. To physically perform the role of their character 2. To create a character image that sells Pro-Wrestling has storylines and like others said it's a macho soap opera. I don't watch pro wrestling myself but if you do don't feel bad about it not being a "real" sport because it never was meant to be. It's entertainment and pro wrestlers are entertainers and they do work hard at their job.
