So I thought it interesting to bring this BACK up one more time as we see more about the Senju and Uchiha clans. It is interesting that here we see that some of what we already knew about the clans themselves come to light. Meaning we know it took a deep emotional event to unlock various phases of the Sharingan, but I'd like to point out that Tobirama clarifies that it was the UCHIHA clan that values love and friendship over power.

This then (potentially) is room to tie them to the younger son of the Sage, where as the Senju would be tied to the elder son. It makes me continue to wonder about what will happen with Naruto and just how the Uzumaki fit into this. I would also point out at this point that, while all the speculation on Naruto getting the Rinnegan has been made, it makes me wonder if the way to achieve the Rinnegan is through strong feelings of love, and the ability to awaken and use the MS is through strong feelings of hate? Just a few thoughts!

ok so u are saying that before maddy died he found a reason to love again thus awaking the rinnigan and not because of senju dna... i agree with this

I definitely like this idea. Something like, Madara is really old and in a moment of self reflection he wonders what it's all been for, the past decades of plotting and then thinks of Izuna and remembers how much he loves his brother.

@Silent but they are tied to the older son he probably felt his love made him weak which is why tobirama said they tried to block thier love (kinda like danzo did to sai) but the ones that felt became strong thus leading to the whole kill your best friend thing.

They tried to block their love because it made them weaker, and more rational. Power comes at a high cost for them, thus we see just what happens in terms of their sanity (i.e love and hate have a bigger sway over them than does the strength to rationally control it). Also if you think about the context of what you said, Tobirama looked at running the village with strength, he and Hashirama understood that they had to have the strength to keep the Uchiha's rational, thus love and friendship actually lead to hate and war (as Nagato said), where as strength and power allow a shinobi to fight hate!

Finally, consider Madara, he was essentially in jail, he probably did reflect, and the use of the Senju DNA probably wasn't a direct reason why he achieved the Rinnegan, it was probably like you said, he thought back over his life, and looked at the world. He wanted to fill it with love, and with his more rational self, his rinnegan became active.

Finally, take some time, and read through the series, reference how often you see Naruto or any Senju/Uzumaki reference strength (Naruto primarily because well, ya there are;t many ). Then look at how often you see the Uchiha reference Love and friendship...Its quite interesting the results you will run across.

History is always writing by the winner what if the senjus are the evil one and the uchihas are the lovers lol........
But that could just be it. Maybe the Death of the sage and the fact that he gave his acknowlegement to the younger brother started the curse and cause the hatered between the two clans. The sharingan evolve into the ms and refected his jeolousy of his brother which turned to hatered.....
