I remember telling my friend about this when I started the show. I was explaining to him how expanding outside the HST is pretty cool when you see how they don't always follow the basic format. Natsu actually starts off strong which makes it interesting and Lucy gets a legendary celestial spirit in episode 1.

I will admit though the scaling is a bit dumb. Like Erza is the Kenpachi of the series. No matter what statements she says that make you think you've seen the full extent of her power Mashima always makes her stronger. By episode 10 I thought Erza vs Natsu would be a good match but by episode 30 I was like "What was I thinking?" then as soon as you think Natsu's caught up again some random mage will piss their pants at the mention of Erza's name and you'll see how ridiculous she is.

As for everyone else mentioning Gildarts, while I do think he was an awesome character does anyone else feel like he was kinda an afterthought? I mean at first you thought Natsu and Gray were at the top of FT and of course Mirajane came up with some joke about it. But over and over when they said who the strongest member of Fairy Tail was you'd here Laxus or Mystogan. They said it at least three times with no mention of Gildarts then suddenly there's this chapter on "Fairy Tail's Strongest Member" and everyone's got this history with him. I call bull. My guess is that Mashima wasn't sure about how successful the series was and as he went along he realized he'd put himself into a box and needed to expand as fans asked for more.

It was by far the best anime movie I EVER watched!
When it hits DVD in America I'm buying it.

Natsu starting off strong doesn't make it interesting,but then who am I kidding? Luffy could exert hundreds of pounds of force by the time he first uses the gatling gun.

The people in Fairy Tail start out stronger than they do in One Piece, but they plateau faster. Their limits seem to be quite a bit lower, although Acnologia really throws those words away.

Either way, it's an interesting series.

Fairy Tail already was one of the top-guilds in the beginning (didnt they start off in the top 2 or something) so it makes sense they would stomp your regular bypasser.

Naruto barely got to luffy season 1 level with sage mode (strenght wise) ,he solod a building with just his foot.

But honestly they should set some limits and theres still some people out there who natsu simply shouldnt have been able to beat or simply walk away alive from.
Erza has the power of ultimate powerscaling, funny thing is we never even saw her train ,once (except for the tournament).

Its similiar to one peice in that way.

The beginning is quite boring but the mid-part is where it gets good.

Kinda unoriginal, he essentially continues to be natsus mirror image even unlocking an fusion himself , bet wendy gets one too.
