[Civil War Act] Captain Makoto Cifer vs. Shiko Hanasaku

Maxtone is known for creating one hell of a intro story so I will leave him to it. You guys decide who will go first.

A small knife lay in a pool of water, under artificial lighting which caused the water to gleam rather than the blade. The knife's owner picked it up out of the water and wiped it gently with a cloth. The owner then, also gently, set the white cloth aside and inspected the blade. The knife now gleamed like the water it rose out of, brightly as if new.

"Not even a chip." The owner said with a warm grin on his face before looking in the mirror in front of him to see his reflection. A reflection he knew very well and now, he thought, the reflection of a leader. The owner of the blade was Shiko Hanasaku, the Captain of the 4th Division of the Gotei 13. The room he stood in was a white room used for checking one's appearance similar to a restroom in the Human World. Shiko put the blade away, hidden within his outfit once more.

"Captain Hanasaku! It's time to go sir!" called an individual from outside the room with his shrill, and young voice. The individual calling was previously unknown to Shiko, but within the past few weeks became much more memorable, Shiko now knew him and his shrill tone as 7th seat Mori Sasazuka.

"I'm on my way out." Shiko said adjusting his mask in the mirror once more before opening the door marked with a sign saying 'A clean soul is a happy soul'.

"And that's enough with calling me 'sir', you acknowledged me as Captain, that should be it. Okay Mori?" Captain Hanasaku asserted, more forceful with his words than when he first became Captain.

"Right....Captain" Sasazuka replied, attempting to add more force to his voice as he was told it would make him sound like 'more of a man' than without by the 2nd Division's Captain. Shiko had black hair styled in a fringe in the front and short ponytail towards the back. As for his appearance, he could accurately be described as frail looking. If you were a childhood friend or something else as close, you'd likely feel the need to protect him. Surprisingly enough on the battlefield he was quite capable as well as with handling paperwork and such, which is how Shiko came to know him so well over the past few weeks.

"Let's go then" Shiko said starting off toward the location he was required to go next. It was decided upon that travel upon Seireitei grounds would be unnecessary and risky in a previous meeting. After battling the Captain of the 2nd Division there may have been those who wanted to battle Shiko for pure sport and the war was the perfect excuse. And so Shiko was told there was one, an outcast from the 12th Division who resides in the 2nd Division barracks who could help him safely get there even better than Sentan Hakuja or Spacial Kido. That last part being especially important as the scouts had recently confirmed that the Captain Shiko was going to face next, was nowhere to be found in the Seireitei. This could have meant a few things, one was the possibility that the Captain, Makoto Cifer, was raised in the Rukongai and went back there until the war subsided. The other most common possibility was that the Captain was already dead, to which Shiko was assured that if he was then they would be unable to take him there and the transport would fail.

The Captain and his 7th Seat began to travel on foot down the also white corridors until they reached the outside of the personal barracks. Shiko's eyes wandered about as he saw Shinigami repairing and restoring the 2nd Division's place of living and training. The sun was out high in the sky and its radiance shined over the hard at work Shinigami. As Shiko looked at their work with delight, the Shinigami glanced back and greeted him. But soon Shiko remembered what he was needed to do and his delight ended as he strolled forward along a paved path. As he and his Seated Officer walked, his spirit conversed with itself.

"Are you there?" Shiko spoke within his mind

"Of course I am, Master" The calm and reassuring voice of his zanpakuto spoke back

"I should say, I quite like how you've changed without me." The spirit added.

"Oh? I guess that's what happens when I have to make decisions on my own, Jaakumetsu" Shiko declared, obviously happy to say his zanpakuto's name again despite his 'Captain who's seen it all' tone.

"Indeed. How are your wounds? Feeling better?" Jaakumetsu questioned, undeniably worried, but still calm as he assumed the best.

"Completely healed. I wouldn't have thought that there were healers in this division, but then again many people were...scattered" Shiko spoke into the void of his mind, thinking very briefly on his 5th Seat.

"You'll see him on your side once more." Jaakumetsu spoke back to alleviate Shiko's lament

"Yeah, I know that already, stop worrying so much." Shiko said, finishing the conversation by showing that he was just as sure as his zanpakutou as his mind drifted off into the breeze.

"Captain, I'm sure you're aware but I'd like to remind you, you do need to pick a new Lieutenant for the 4th Division." Sasazuka reminded him, breaking the beat that Shiko unconsciously became attuned to of hammers slamming against wood in the background.

"R-Right, I'll work on that just as soon as I get the chance. Thanks Mori." Shiko replied, destroying any ruse he had left that he was a veteran Captain as they walked on, stopping once the reached a hall containing many doors.

"It is the room on the left Captain" Sasazuka said as the Captain began to walk forward

"At the end of the hall Si-....um...Shiko" Sasazuka said, finally treating the Captain as if they knew each other well.

Shiko approached the wooden door with a bronze handle and clasped on the handle. He opened the door to see darkness, a lot of darkness sans a small, partially obscured light in the northeast corner of the room. The figure obscuring the light turned around to face Shiko, a young, pale skinned, tired looking man with strangely bright yellow eyes the color of a dandelion.

"Yo~, whatcha doin' here? Office is that way get out" the young man said pointing outside the room before heading back to the light, which upon further inspection appeared to be a computer screen.

"Yes I'm here for Kinmaru Tanpopo?" Shiko said questioning and looking back down the hall for his now missing 7th seat.

"Okay first, that's me. Second call me Kin or "Murasaki Oni". And third, I got like a hundred things to do today so be a bit more specific. If you could." The young man said in a condescending and rude tone.

"Well, Kin, I was told you could take me to the Captain I'm trying to meet, Makoto Cifer." Shiko said responding a bit negatively to Kinmaru's tone.

"Ya don't say... alright just hold up a moment." Kinmaru said wearily before adding "I'm playing an RPG, it's from the Human World, and it. Is. Awesome."

"Yeah...okay" Shiko responded with little will left. Noting that 'Kin' was wearing western style clothes, a purple shirt and white drawstring pants to be specific, with a black Haori draped over them.

"Aaaand let's go" Kinmaru said, turning off the computer and leading the Captain further down the hall before they stepped into another room and Kinmaru turned on the bright lights that reminded Shiko of the operating room he stayed in only recently.

A large mechanical contraption was set up in the room resembling a giant metal ring, albeit with skulls and red flames painted around it's perimeter it.

"Here we are, I'll turn this baby on in it should lead you right to where you wanna be. Which we have determined is.......HUUUUUEEECCOOOO MUNDOOOOO! Tough break buddy but there are no consolation prizes." Kinmaru said like a television host.

Shiko was stunned and had no time to react as Kinmaru turned the machine on causing a black void to appear within the ring.

"Yeah, I know, I'm kind of a genius. Now that you're sufficiently surprised allow me to tell you my name, I'm the Purple Demon, Witchcraft56, Kinma the Gold, just straight Kin and most importantly the maker of all things awesome around here." Kinmaru said as Shiko continued to look on in amazement at the swirling void of darkness.

"Now I'm sure you're wondering how this works, well first I..." and as Kinmaru continued his speech, his voice drifted away being overshadowed by the wonder of such high technology to one who had never seen such before. "...And that's all there is to know in layman's terms. Killer right?" He finished not waiting for a response from the amazed Captain. The decision that Shiko would go alone was forgone much like the other decisions, Shiko himself deciding to go alone rather than taking subordinates. That was before he knew he was going to Hueco Mundo and needless to say he was feeling apprehensive, likely the reason Kinmaru rushed him into the void without asking questions.

"Well, get going and take this" he said tossing a purple magatama shaped device to Shiko before adding "Call in if you don't die out there, 'Captain Commander'." mockingly. Shiko squinted at Kinmaru before stepping into the void placing the device in his uniform. As he fell into darkness a strange sensation swept over Shiko, one that felt rather cold. This for certain was not how they described Gargantas at all, that was for sure. The feeling ended and Shiko could see nothing for a moment, temporarily blind from the device's transportation methods. Shiko blinked a few times and saw around him the swirling white desert of Hueco Mundo, the sky illuminated by a large and full moon. Shiko did not see his opponent before him and did not know what brought him to Hueco Mundo. Shiko had never seen Hueco Mundo up close before, and was frightened and amazed at it's vast black and white scenery.

"Better be on guard" Jaakumetsu spoke, Shiko silently agreed.

"Captain Cifer! Are you there? My name is Shiko Hanasaku of the 4th Division and I've come to speak with you!" Shiko called out to the darkness, awaiting a response in the middle of a potential killing field. The Captain he was looking for was Makoto Cifer, a Captain Shiko did not know very well. Makoto's name, at least usually meant 'truth'. Perhaps that was telling of the Captain's personality. However regardless of his personality, nothing could be more telling of his power than being willing to be in the Land of Hollows. This white desert Shiko stood in was known to be the one place no Shinigami should ever go, it could be shortened to pure death that awaited anyone that came to this place. It was the type of place ghost stories are told about to ghosts themselves and choosing to come here was a long way of saying you were tired of living.

The wind in the desert whistled ominously and deep withing the sands one could almost hear movement. It could easily be Shiko's mind but he began to hear hissing. Shiko had no intention of letting fear get to him, his zanpakuto then emanated a feeling that Shiko should move.

"Turn around!" the spirit called

Shiko swerved around to see a small snake-like hollow leaping out of it's coiled position. With a single motion by Shiko the hollow continued on past him slashed precisely in the throat. And with such skill that blood did not show or ooze, the hollow merely turned to black dust.

"Have they assured you that the Captain of Squad 9 hasn't simply become a hollow?" Jaakumetsu questioned to ascertain the safety of his master.

"They have, the device won't lock onto him that way, his Spiritual Pressure would be far too different from what they had recorded." Shiko answered aloud, showing that despite ignoring Kinmaru to ogle machinery he did know the ins and outs of the transportation method.

Shiko now looked back and forth to see if any more hollows stalked him. He thought he caught a human-like figure on a hilltop a far distance away, but the darkness made it to difficult to be sure. Shiko merely walked forward while looking around, keeping his Spiritual Pressure low, intending to to never find out if the figure he spotted was another hollow stalking him.

Short Version: Shiko's been transported to Hueco Mundo via technology. After arriving a small hollow attacked and he slayed it. Shiko is now walking in Hueco Mundo's desert, Makoto may be lurking from afar waiting to attack. (I made it ambiguous so you can really kinda come from anywhere)

Shiko continued to tread through the desert before coming to an abrupt stop. The feeling of danger escalated and he was sure he something was nearby. Quickly, Shiko swiveled around and looked distantly in the vast white desert, peering in the same direction he glimpsed a figure in earlier.

"He must be here somewhere." Shiko spoke as his voice was carried off in the whistling desert winds.

Shiko considered that using a Kido to find Makoto was the best course of action. However he ran into trouble as he didn't have the materials necessary for Kakushitsuijaku. Rather Shiko decided to go with what his intuition told him and began to cast a spell, pointing in the direction of the supposed enemy and casting "Hado No. 4, Byakurai" as a bolt of blue electricity jumped from his fintertip to the hill of sand, blasting away any cover the opponent may have into a cloud of dust.

Shiko then pulled out 3 Shuriken and threw them into the sky, catching them in between his fingers while speaking "Jaakutsume" and entering a battle stance. His Zanpakuto was still held firmly in his right hand, prepared to slice another enemy with precision. Shiko looked forth with intensity, no longer scared or worried so much as irritated that he may have to get in a battle with an opponent that utilized tactics such as these.

The long-awaited moment had finally come, the moment where his oppressed soul would leave Hueco Mundo after fifty years. The shinigami's soul had been to hell and back, ripped asunder by his hatred for hollows. His sanity was no longer in question, for he attained a conscious mind before it was too late. The shinigami sat atop the massive establishment, the remnants of Las Noches, injesting the view for the last time. With a swift shun-po he arrived at his destination, a large hill sand in the middle of Hueco Mundo. Then, an abrupt voice pentrated his heart; it was a shinigami. Judging from the size and density of the Spiritual pressure, this shinigami was a captain. The shinigami kept his back turned toward his fellow shinigami, even after he was aware that he was behind him, generating a wide barrier of condensed spiritual energy to encase his blind spot, effortlessly deflecting the offensive spell. The shinigami's apperance wasn't the best, his Shihakushou and Haori ragged and torn. He turned, looking t'ward his guest, his voice mellow, but serious. "So you people finally come looking for me... But all I get is kinife in my back, right?!"

His glimmering, emrald eyes and glistening black hair were ablaze; it'd been a long time since he'd felt anger. The shinigami rushed forth at incredible speed, ascending, immediately releasing a burst of white luminescent energy, which was sent forth in the form of white bolts of electricity in all directions, frying anything within proximity of the shinigami, reducing their brains to a liquified substance. As the Kido came to fruition, the shinigami was revealed, his body shrouded in a rapidly-flowing cloak of kido; consequently all physical ability's are amplified significantly, along with destructive power. He descended, his fist clashing with the ground, causing the earth to quiver violently, the sand erupting upward, attempting to throw his enemy off balance and obscure his vision. This was immediately followed by a broad strem of Kido-based electricty, traveling at incredible speed, in an attmept to turn his opponent's insides' to ash. Simply evading would not be enough, for the subsequent bolts are guided and will follow until their target is struck.
Finally, the shinigami sent forth another stream of Kido, a broad torrent of raw spiritual energy, clashing with the electricity and engulfing the air, resulting in a large, wide-spread explosion. The shinigami was already some distance away, safe from the radius of the explosion, awaiting his opponent, his body still blazing with raw Kido; this was his Shunko.
