Because unless Kabuto made some alterations similar to what he did to Madara, Izuna would have been Edo'd with no eyes. And if he was really old, he'd have been brought back old. Kabuto could have done it, but he didn't seem to.

ya but he went to the trouble of gathering the Seven Swordsmen's weapons for them. it wouldn't be that hard to hook a body up for Izuna and Obito had a nice stock of eyeballs. i am just saying we have seen a bunch of players ... Harishima, Tobirama, ect.... yet one of the players that is just as interesting, Izuna, we see nothing.

I agree. We've heard conflicting stories about the relationship between Madara and Izuna and it would be great to see him and see how he would alter the battle landscape.

Madara notwithstanding, when you're Edo'd you are brought back as you were when you died. Itachi had his eyes when he died. Izuna, presumably, didn't have any eyes when he died so that's how he'd be brought back (unless Kabuto made some modifications).

Which reason is that?
He was surely OP. Itachi said that Madara and Izuna always competed to see who was stronger.
He had MS and he was the second in power, after Madara.
He would make a difference in the war.

That is a valid point. But, Madara is evidence that if Izuna couldn't be brought back with his own eyes, they could have done the same thing they did with Madara.

consider my earliest ranting for 14 months now...that Obito has Izuna's dna and he'll be the one to ET Izuna....

This example is less definite. Genetically, you are the same unless altered. Haku was the age he died and chiyo too. You can argue that you come back at the state your dna was in. So removing a part of your body doesn't necessarily mean you have that missing eye, limb or (temporary) injury when you come back.

Or you could be right. But this is an alternative that is not broken to my memory.

P.S. Hairstyles don't count!

Well.. if Izuna was as powerful as everyone claimed him to be, then I'd have expected Kabuto to have tried to reanimate him. Nagato was reanimated as an old character, but for some reason he was able to go back to the stage of his prime. Madara was also reanimated to his prime. I see no reason why Izuna would be different! For such a powerful shinobi, Kabuto would surely have worked on him.

So there are a few possible reasons behind this...

Perhaps Kabuto was unable to find Izuna's DNA, thus unable to even revive him.

Perhaps he was too powerful to place under reanimation (for reasons maybe unknown to us)

Maybe he really is still alive, and gave his eyes willingly to Madara because he believed the Uchiha were disgraced and needed revival (remember, Kishi mentioned there'll be a lot of new characters appearing soon). Also remember how Obito was considered deceased but turned up alive. It's plausible that Madara, upon gaining some of hashirama's cells, gave some to Izuna so that he too would also stay alive. We're going to see some more shocks in the next couple of chapters, and it'll be hard to predict them (so anyone who isn't open to this possibility, remember that Kishi can f***k with our minds....
