Still Shino is more aloof. Like his personality and clothing. The bugs can go further faster and cover ground faster than Shikamaru can think of a plan. Shikamaru is still at a disadvantage

I don't really know too much about their bugs senses.

It's kind of based on anatomy, and I don't really think bugs have acute senses of smell.
Then you wonder how mosquitoes and parasites find hosts so quickly.

Technically no they can not sense chakra.....

but the bugs are still fast and there are so many that they cover a large area. Afterall Shikamaru is about 50m away in a direction the bugs can find Shikamaru in minutes. The same cannot be said for Shino.

Even if Shikamaru did find Shino it would take a while. SHino has time to make a bug clone then hide. Shikamaru MAYBE!! Would get Bug Clone in his shadows an think victory is his. Then the bugs would disperese and attack SHikamaru.

Shikamaru does not know Shino can make bug clones

Mosquitoes locate bloodhosts by scent, sight and heat. From 100 feet away (30 meters) mosquitoes can smell your scent, especially the carbon dioxide (CO2) you exhale. Biting flies are even better; they can smell their prey from 300 feet (100 meters) away. Because CO2 is present in the atmosphere (plants take in CO2 and give off oxygen), mosquitoes respond to higher-than-normal concentrations, especially when the CO2 is mixed with host-odor. They follow your scent upwind, and can see you at a distance of about 30 feet (10 meters)

heat and CO2 is produced by many creatures in the forest. And is not specific, so what remains is vision. now if I am correct can shikamaru prepare a trap to the Bugs, Make a decoy target that can attract bug and make series of explosions. in a circle that can kill many bugs
bugs need time to reproduce longer than their life span if the kill, wait cycle continue it is POSSIBLE that many bugs can be eliminated ?

shino can take away all his chakra so i think with bugs and all that shino has it hands down but i like shikamaru alot

shika thinks pretty fast in he can think few steps ahead and put 20 possibility in short time i has fast "processing speed"

ok.... but that does not change the fact that kibuoch(shino's bugs) are NOT mosquitos. THey are compeletey different

You know that could also mean that theyre weaker then mosquitos (save for chakra drain) instead of stronger.

-these are ninja bugs way stronger than an average insect. If they were so weak kanakuro or tobi would have gotten away with ease

As I said nobody has gotten away from shinos bugs besides tobi
Shini would find shikamaru first
And shino can trick shikamaru with bug clone

Provided that he knows where the bugs are. They won't be in one or two locations. Also, shadow jutsus won't work on them. Some will get caught, others won't. How? Bugs fly in a swarm. So not every single shadow of each bug is going to get caught. The ones on the bottom layer would, but only a few from the top and middle. He'd have to hold the shadow long enough until there's a new bottom layer of bugs. But by then, Shino's bugs could reach him, not to mention the other bugs lying around the cave. And it's not like Shikamaru can fill up a whole entire cave with his shadow(s).

I'm shocked this thread has gone on so long, I felt that the answer was blatantly obvious. Shikamaru's technique works by restricting his opponent's movements. Shino's attacks work independently of his own actions. It's the perfect counter. I'm sure dozens of people have pointed this out already. I guess this is inevitable with two characters form the K11 going up against each other though.

Shikamaru shadow strangle off the bat could end it. In a match like this long range abilities and strategy will be big. Shikamaru seems more stronger on that field.
