Is cheating okay?

Cheating in video games.

Is it okay under certain circumstances?

I think cheating that doesn't give anyone an unfair advantage over other players (in multiplayer games) is fine. I also think that in single player games it's perfectly fine. If you do something to skip levels or whatever, that's fine in my eyes. Do what you want with the game. It's yours.

I think cheating is wrong when you have something other people don't or have increased "stats" so to speak.
Also, I think it's fine if you do something that alters "stats" of a player as long as everyone you're playing with also has that.

Well, I don't think you should cheat when you play with a serious partner. It may seem like good fun to you, but you could really hurt someone; they may not be able to trust you to play a good fair game anymore. Then you're out a partner and you'll be playing with your joystick all alone again

I say no. Some people dont have cheats. And how would you know if people where cheating also? But it does give you a power-up and the other player an unfair disadvantage. Like pokemon,some people cheat on wi-fi wich i dont approve of also. But that's just up to you if you thinking cheating is okay in certain circumstances.

Tactics ogre: Let us cling together has a certain which named Deneb who can only be recruited by capturing 30 dragons. There is 6 different kinds and you must have sell 5 of each kind. The problem with that is dragons are extremely hard to capture, are randomly generated, and some like the hydra are only in key story battles.

To top that off, only one can be capped per battle and it has to be kept alive after being capped.

So yea, I would not discount anyone for cheating in this case

As long as its singleplayer I don't care.

Sometimes its impossible for players to get everything in a game because they lack the required things like wifi etc..

So for people who play pokemon and can't get an arceus then I think its fine for them to cheat to get it.

Now cheating online whether through glitches or tech they have. Thats definitely not ok.

It depends on the situation.

If it is in a case such as FFIX's Excalibur II, where you have to speedrun the entire game just to get it, then yeah, I understand.

If it is online, and you're cheating, I am not ok with this.

The answer to the thread is no. Under any circumstances should you cheat. But it's not cheating if the other person is.

Game Freak has a ban on pokemon if it is detected to be hack though. So that eliminates most hackers. Some pass ofc. But their pokemon are "Legit Hacked"

I say no to the cheating. If you do really want to play a cool game, then you should play it fairly. If you just wanna cheat, then what's the meaning to play that game?

I see your point, but you also have to realize that it is your game: You payed for it.

Only exceptions to this rule: Online play(Everyone uses the feature, so don't ruin it for everyone)
Emulation/Piracy(If you're gonna steal a game, at least play it legit.)

...Well I cheat only after I beat the game. (If there is no special thing in the second playthrough)
