More or less agree with this. I don't think anime can really teach you anything. I think it's better at making you reflect on yourself, your values, and your relationships. I think anime are amazing at getting across strong emotions and making you empathize with their characters. Within the first episodes of my favorite anime I already can see myself friends with certain heroes, while at the same time I often see the kind of hero I don't want to be.
For example, Naruto, Natsu (Fairy Tail), Gon (HunterxHunter) are all people I admire. Their determination is inspirational but their bravery and idealism I sometimes find ridiculous. Ichigo (Bleach) or Alibaba (Magi) on the other hand are characters I can't stand but I still understand their frailty and pragmatism and realize those are most likely the qualities I appreciate but probably dislike in myself.
Anyways a few of my favorite quotes:
"I'm not fighting because I
want to win. I'm fighting because I
have to win." ~Ichigo
"Open your eyes. Breathe. Can you see? Can you hear? What your heart is saying. You want to die just like that?! You want to vanish just like that! Me, my comrades, none of us want to lose. That destiny "crap" don't accept it. I will change your destiny" ~ Naruto
"Never give up. That's the true choice I was supposed to make. Naruto you are the child of prophecy I'm sure of it. I entrust the rest to you. 'The Tale of Jiraiya the Gallant' the final chapter will be 'The Frog in the Well Drifts into the Great Ocean' Not bad...Not bad at all" ~Jiraiya
