by that logic Shino is also hidden.
Shino's bugs can sense Shik an attack him

Shik would not see the bugs coming and would sneak up and then attack.
Shino also has time to make a plan and use bug clones to fool SHik

Plus did you hear what Kakashi said about the Aburmae clan and their bugs!! They are aces at finding their foe and when they do and they capture them it is game over

Even kakashi gave them praise
Shikamaru's shadows are not hard to evade and it can be broken out of

Afterall Tayuya was dumber but had the advantage. Shika was smarter but lost cuz of disadvantage

*Shikamaru tries to find foe but not as effectively*

*Bugs find SHikamaru after a while and attack*
*Shikamaru tries to fight back by using explosion tags*
*Shikamaru's position is given away*
*SHino uses bugs clones and sends in more bugs*
*Shikamaru can not throw explosive tags fast enough and gets eatn by bugs*

-shino is waiting for the insect to find shika with no benefit
-meanwhile shika finds shino and use shadow to penetrate his throat in one strike
- shika get away

Shino, likewise, is well aware of the basic workings of Shikamaru's shadows. As well as of his 200 IQ mind.

The insects are experts in espionage and about as big as Shino's fingernail. They can just crawl along the grass undetected. Even if Shikamaru spots them he''ll have difficulty due to being overwhelmed.

How does Shikamaru find Shino? Shikamaru possesses no ability to detect that I am aware of, whereas the Kikai do. While it does require a female bug to be on the target this is easily dealt with by having several females crawl through the blades of grass, sheer numbers being effective. In the event that Shino is found he can simply just switch position with his bugs, creating an effective clone that overwhelms Shikamaru.

And what if that "Shino" who gets his throat pierced turns out to be a clone? Shino sends some insects somewhere else (insect Clone works by the host keeping some insects on standby, allowing them to switch with the kikai), Shikamaru goes for the kill, Shino switches with those insects and is safe. Shikamaru has messed up and Shino now knows the Nara's location. Shikamaru gets swarmed by the clone insects, has no way to get them off and ends up drained.

And the last part is your own fan-thought. The insects could just as easily live to find a new host. Or they could just as easily kill Shikamaru.

From what i recall the bugs can drain chakra, block chakra signals but not sense chakra.
