what about the 7 swordsmen do they count?
Also doesn't it depend on the location, because from what I saw during the Deidera vs Gaara fight if the mist was to try to invade the sand then with Gaara as the kazekage it would be a massive stomp by the sand.

But.. if the sand invaded the mist or if it was neutral then I don't know..

The databooks say that the sand is the weakest

Yeah but they're the most awesome!! I think the sand deserves some more strong ninjas though and don't forget about Pakura and Sasori every ninja from the sand is bound to be awesome in one way or another

I say Kirigakure since it has got a greater military strength than Sunagakure and shinobies like The Seven Ninja Swordsmen and Mei (honestly, as much as I like the Sand Siblings, they don't stand a chance against Kirigakure's ninjas)

Yeah there's the alliance with the hidden leaf, but I don't really see how the sand has got quality over quantity.

The Hidden Mist has got the very powerful Hiding in Mist technique which can obscure the ninja's movements. That's like Kirigakure's speciality since all of the shinobi in that village have to learn it at some point. The sand shinobi wouldn't be able to see a thing if they were up against Kirigakure's shinobies!

I think that the sand could take down all of the swordsmen without too much difficulty aside from Kisame and maybe Zabuza although I'm pretty sure Gaara could beat Zabuza.

Besides the mist would have to infiltrate the hidden sand the win and with Gaaras defence over the sand I really doubt it would be an easy job at all. And lets not forget that the sand has their Puppet division which is quite strong!

Sand would totally win. Gaara defeated the 2nd mizukage. The jouki boy jutsu was way faster than any of the mist shinobi. Silent killing technique or not it isnt getting past Gaara's sand. He has already demonstrated his ability to deal with water style shinobi. Not to mention the sand ninja arent incompetent. They do have quality over quantity. They have to be tough to survive in the harsh conditions of Suna's desert.
