With the war seemingly winding down I'm left wondering about some of the older loose plot threads that Kishi hasn't resolved yet...



With all the hustle it seems Yamato has been completely forgotten about. The last time we saw him he was fused into the Gedo Mazo statue right next to that weird clone of the 1st Hokage. Assuming that statue was the actual summoned Gedo Mazo that has turned into Juubi that would mean that he is hanging somewhere off the Juubi's body fused to it.

If Kishi does decide to use this, it might become the Juubi's achilles heel. Since Yamato has the wood style he could potentially hijack control of it from Madara if he wakes up.

I heard a theory recently that part of Shikaku's plan might be to have Naruto use Kyuubi's chakra to supercharge other ninja, making their abilities much stronger. In previous chapters the Juubi's immense power made sensory abilities ineffective as they were simply overwhelmed by the scope of its power. With Hinata being caught in Naruto's chakra aura perhaps now she will be able to make sense of the Juubi's chakra and find Yamato.


Speaking of Hinata there is still the loose thread of her issues with her father. Way back in the Chuunin exams we got a flashback where Hiashi flat out told Kurenai that Hinata was unneeded and had been rejected as heir. I've yet to see anything in the manga (or the anime for that matter) that has changed that. So this might be Hinata's big chance to pull something utterly heroic that saves the entire alliance and earns her families recognition.



Another loose thread right now is Kabuto. The last time we saw him he was in that cave trapped in Itachi's illusion timeloop. Itachi said that the illusion will only end if Kabuto stops trying to be something he's not. So if he comes out of it anytime soon he will probably have some manner of change of heart. Which could also help tie into defeating the Juubi, as Kabuto had a special snake venom tailored towards stopping wood style users.


All in all Kishi has left several unrelated plot threads that could converge and be used to help defeat the Juubi with actual teamwork, instead of Naruto saving the world on his own. (I honestly don't think Sasuke will be participating in the end of the war, instead getting a post war final arc)

Those are issues we are all wondering! So many loose ends, but Kishi has the year or so to wind them down. I think as we peak out here in the story, each chapter will (hopefully) start to close some of these plot holes/devices, so we can see some sort of closure in each one.

The stuff with Hinata, and most of the side stuff likely won't happen until the war concludes, because most of that is subplot, meaning while its important, its not the primary purpose (though how some ppl are, makes ya wonder )

I mean we got plot holes with Shikamaru, Hinata, Sasuke, Sakura, hell, we still have a TON with Obito and especially the events that went down with Rin and Kakashi! Questions on what will happen to Karin and what the deal is with Orochimaru and Kabuto (we may have just got a new villain back for a new Naruto Arc?). I was hoping this whole thing would warp up in a year, but I mean I don't know if we can close that many plot hole in a year or so....

they still have to deal with that special scroll that suigetsu and jugo found. it can turn the tide of the war according to suigetsu

Yamato was fused to the stem of the giant lotus flower grown from Hashirama's cells. The Gedo Maza was just sitting on top of it, so he wouldn't have been summoned with the Maza. Otherwise, interesting points that I'm excited to see where Kishi takes them.

IIRC Itachi said Kabuto would die once he came to terms with his true self, thus being released from izanami.

I don't recall Itachi ever saying that... in fact I'm pretty sure he said the opposite. There was a long winded explanation about the Izanami being a technique that was to risky to use in normal combat as it could be escaped from, but Itachi did it anyway since he wanted to force Kabuto to change his current mindset.
