No that was artistic license by Jackson and it was kinda dumb

the all seeing eye was his coat of arms a reference to what he was famous for as Melkors second in command (being essentially the lord of werewolves mental torture and telepathic rape) his name more or less means "mind rapest" or "the torturer" or "the cruel" well no Garthaur means that Sauron kinda means "festering infection" or something "slow rot" or "creeping poison" forget which.

He had a physical body before he took up his role as the Necromancer in Dul Ghuldor and I think he had a physical form for several centuries if not a thousand years by that point.

Sauron wasn't going to fight Gondor directly he had no need too

he would have confront the havens, Lothlorien or Imladris or Isengard directly though as the lords (and lady) of those realms were all too powerful for his Nazgul to do it.

But he wasn't going to hit Denethor personally he saw no need too he vastly, vastly underestimated the military capability of the human race

Isengard must be given some chances for victory, after all. Otherwise it is not a worthy comparison to make.

Maybe but his statement is noteworthy to think about. It makes sense why Saruman was so hell bent on finding the ring.
However he didn't know which hobbit so Merry and Pippin were taken.

So, in the books, Sauron was present in the last battle and died by Aragorn's hand? Or did he die when the ring was destroyed?

no if Aragorn fought Sauron, Sauron would have ripped his head off and the line of kings would have ended right there.

No he was a by that point an REMF and probably was hanging out in one of the fortresses inside Mordor planning and administrating the war.

Sauron isn't going to directly challenge any body unless he absolutely has too. Galadriel, Cirdan, Saruman and Gandalf, Glorfindale and Elrond are all beings he'd need his ring and his full strength to fight and to beat them he'd need to fight them personally at his best

he wasn't there yet..so he wasn't coming out

he lead from the rear

Mouth of Sauron isn't much of a military piece, Lurtz is just an overglorified Uruk, and Witch King + 8 other ringwraiths pretty much sums this up.

Mordor wins, hands down.

Also, OMG, something I didn't know.
I don't think Sauron was present at the final battle at the Black Gate, and that would have been a horrendous mistake if they actually did that in the movie.
But, the deleted scene where the mouth shows up was comical

Jak that only happened in the movies..in the books the Witch King ran in fear of weaker characters and all of them were pwned by Elrond who isn't as powerful as Gandalf the white

Saruman was more powerful then Gandalf the Grey..and GG pwned Agmar who had six wraiths as back up..in fact he unleashed such an ass beating on the Witch King Frodo mistook it for a huge lightening storm (which he could see ten to twenty miles away)

Sum it up Isengard looses but not because of the Witch King

most Generals don't lead their forces from the front and the top Generals in charge of the entire army especially aren't anywhere near the front lines they are usually a country or so away

Sauron was like all the way back inside a fortress inside Mordor..commanding an entire war (he had three fronts..they were invading Legolas home land..Gondor and The Dwarves)
