First, it's his home island that he's trying to protect, and that would have caused just as much damage. Secondly, even if he were to move part of the island, it wouldn't really solve the problem -- that is, there's a bunch of magma below the surface under pressure and trying to get out. If anything, it would make things worse by effectively "popping the lid".

I will put it this way.

I expected much better large scale bending then what Avatar Roku had shown, blame me for being overly critical (I am not trying to be) but thats what I am trying to say.

How much larger do you want? He does push the lava back down the volcano at one point, and that's not even using the Avatar State.

That was the initial erupting stage if I recall but hey its been a while.

How much larger? Not necessarily larger just found it a little underwhelming. But I can't blame Roku, he was still human biologically with all its weaknesses.
