How to do realism in photoshop > TC now

I'm working at my internship and I figured some might want to see how I create some of my digital paintings, my working style right now quite simple and very useful if you're not that good at drawing/coloring.

Adding progress in steps so you can see how I start my work.

1. Use a reference! This will be a great study for detail and texture.

2. Start with the outline, don't want your face to look morphed and deformed with misplaced bits.

3. Use your reference to decide what colors belong where. (do this plenty and it'll teach you a great deal about how light works and how it affects surfaces)

4. Start smudging, just use a brush with low opacity and pressure sensitivity, don't forget to keep important features in mind that need harsher lines and shadows.

Increase his size? It's a midget.

He works as a clown in a Dutch circus, he's pretty well known.
